Chapter 116

Xander POV

“Xander why?” Isabelle’s voice is small as she faces us, her wrists restrained by silver cuffs, her eyes wide and pleading as she stares at me, her eyes shining with unshed tears.

I try not to let her affect me, but it’s impossible not to when she places a hand on her stomach, a blatant reminder that she’s carrying my child. Regan is silent, her jaw clenching, while Xavier and my father remain calm, perhaps the calmest of all of us. He looks thoughtful, continuing to stare at Isabelle as though she is some sort of conundrum that he can’t quite work

out.

“Cut the crap, Isabelle, you had to know we would come after you. You took our mate” I snarled, fighting back the urge to wrap my hands around her neck as she blinked at me and then gave a slow smile.

The bitch was only pretending to be afraid. She thought she was untouchable because of the pregnancy. She was about to learn that even that was not enough to save her.

“Fine, then I guess I’ll stop pretending.” It’s as though a mask is lifted off her face as she peers at us with an icy expression on her face “I’m only sorry we didn’t kill Regan sooner” she spat out. “Then you would know the feeling of pain and what it’s like to lose something important to you. You killed my father and you took the title that was meant to be mine” she screamed at Regan who remained unaffected by her.

“Bitch” Regan’s voice is low as she stares at Isabelle with hatred, “what you and Heather intended for Alpha Kai to do to me, be thankful I’m not in that cell with you right now” she warned.

Xavier stiffened. I met his eyes. We both knew what Alpha Kai had fully intended to do to our mate on Isabelle and Heather’s say–so. I gritted my teeth while my father spoke, his tone nonchalant, giving nothing away about his feelings or what he truly thought about the matters at hand.

“Isabelle Ramona you are charged with treason, attempted murder, poisoning an Alpha, and many, many, more charges that I don’t feel inclined to utter,” my father said frowning “How do you plea to these charges?” he asked as though there was any doubt in our minds that she was guilty.

Isabelle scoffed. “Do you think I am stupid? I plead not guilty. I will wait for the elders to arrive and then we will see what they have to say.”

I knew she was going to use that as an excuse to prolong the inevitable. She was out of luck. The elders were not coming. Not this time.
