Sophie came to an abrupt stop.

James's voice echoed from behind her. "I heard you and Colby are getting married, so... congratulations and best wishes."

"Thanks," Sophie replied without looking back and walked out of the conference room.

James watched her determined exit with a wry smile.

Elodie emerged from the conference room as well and asked curiously, "Did she just hand it over to you?"

"She never cared about these things," James said, passing the share transfer agreement to Elodie. "Burke International is yours now. I hope you can handle it, Ms. Elodie." "I'm more than capable," Elodie replied. "If Sophie knew that taking over Burke International wasn't in her best interest, I wonder if she'd thank you for your sudden interference." James stayed silent.

Feigning pity, Elodie added, "Too bad, now she'll just think of you as a backstabber."

James shot Elodie a glance and said, "Ms. Elodie, you don't need to worry about what's not your business."

With that, James walked out of the conference room. Elodie wasn't bothered; she got what she wanted-the share agreement.

Outside Burke International, Sophie got into Colby's car.

"Saw someone go in just now," Colby mentioned.
