"You're

lying."

Odie's voice was ice-cold. "Maybe I can't beat you at your own game, but don't think I'm an idiot."

He stepped up to James, his eyes piercing. "You promised me shares in Burke International, then turned around and pledged those same shares to Sophie. Were you trying to double-cross me, making me work for you with nothing to show for it? Is that what this is?" "Mr. Odie, you're reading too much into it."

Odie sneered. "James, don't take me for a fool. You've already signed a share transfer agreement with Sophie. In three months, Burke International goes to her. You end up as just the ex-CEO. The shares you promised me are worthless. You've been scheming to hand Burke International over to Sophie, and now you want me to wrest it from her?"

James chuckled. "It seems... Mr. Odie isn't as clueless as I thought."

Odie's face turned stony. "Sophie just got the share transfer document from Elodie, and she was targeted the moment she walked out. I saw the car; they weren't trying to kidnap her, they wanted her dead. When that car explodes, everything burns to ashes, including that document." The implication was clear.

Someone didn't want Sophie to get that agreement!

"James, you've been playing a clever game, but I'm not falling for it. If you want that share agreement, go get it yourself."

Odie turned to Jonah. "Show Mr. Burke out."
