Hayden fiddled with the laptop for a long time, but in the end, he had no choice but to give up. He stopped typing and stretched his sore fingers while his face was filled with disappointment and guilt when he looked at Nicole.

"I'm sorry, Mom, but I can't find anything. Surveillance was not as advanced back then as it is now, and the network data was not synchronized. So, if someone took the backup, it would be impossible to find it."

He lowered his head and started fidgeting, utterly disappointed.

Nevertheless, she didn't have high expectations in the first place, so she wasn't upset in the slightest. But when she noticed how despondent Hayden had become, she quickly comforted him, "Don't worry about it. It's been so many years, after all. It's normal that you can't find anything."

Colton also said, "Someone stole the surveillance footage back then, so he must have taken care of any loose ends. It's only normal that you couldn't unearth anything."

Although Hayden did feel better after being comforted by his parents, he was discouraged and looked as if he was about to cry. Nicole hurriedly pulled him into her embrace and patted his back gently. "Don't be sad. You're the best."

He snuggled in her embrace and hid his face against her shoulder. Actually, he was sad that he couldn't help out. If he couldn't find the actual footage, his grandmother would be accused of something she didn't do.

Colton pondered over their options before saying, "Someone paid the kid to deliver this photo to us, so we could start from there. Surveillance nowadays is advanced, so we can eventually unearth some clues."

The disappointment vanished from Hayden's expression like morning mist when he heard Colton's suggestion. He nodded solemnly and agreed, "Okay! I'll start from there!"

Due to Pierre's arrest, the police found the drugs in his house and ruled that Pierre was Norman's murderer.

When the news spread abroad, Norman's family wept with joy and forwarded their apology to Nicole.

Colton wanted to teach these people a lesson, but Nicole did not want to create a fuss, so she implored him to let them go. But soon, they heard from Colton's subordinates that Norman's family was shot and killed immediately after they left the house!

It was the work of a sniper, but the sniper's position was a little far away. He had already fled when Colton's men arrived at the crime scene.

When Colton received the news, he looked grave as he considered the potential implications behind this. Thus, he ordered solemnly, "I see. Bury them and thoroughly investigate this matter!"

"Yes, Boss!"

Nicole was stunned when she heard about the death of Norman's entire family. Her lips trembled, and she asked in disbelief, "M-Maddy and the rest... D-Did they die?"

Colton nodded, but he didn't know what to say.

"But... why? Who hates the Clancies so much?" she muttered in puzzlement.

Then, something flashed across her mind. Jacob was able to kidnap Hayden because he had help from Undercity.

"Undercity?" she asked with a frown.
