Colton was slightly unhappy as he began with a frown, "Does it mean you'll cut ties with me if you find nothing in the end?"

Nicole nodded calmly and replied, "I have to keep my promise."

Her determination left him speechless. Silly woman! Can't she choose something else to bet on?!

He let out a defeated sigh. It seems like I need to take over the matter. He reached out a hand all of a sudden and grabbed her waist. Leaning his face into her neck, he murmured in a slow tone, "I'll help you with the investigation."

His words reminded Nicole that their recent trip abroad was to initiate cooperation with F&R Enterprise. However, she had to deal with the business with the Clancy Family, and he was always there for her the whole time. Did he manage to strike a deal with the F&R Enterprise?

"Did you reach out to F&R Enterprise?" Nicole asked in a confused tone

Meanwhile, Colton lowered his gaze to study the confused look on her face. It seems like there's a bit of conscience left in her and she knows when to care about me. Nodding, he continued with pride, "But of course. I've made a deal with Douglas. The Gardner Corporation will invest in his AI technology. In return, he'll share the core technology with us."

Nicole couldn't believe it when she heard those words. After all, it was an investment of around several hundred billion. However, Colton didn't even hesitate when he agreed with it.

"That's it?" She couldn't help but ask for affirmation from him.

Shoving his hands in his pockets, Colton stated with confidence, "I've been observing Douglas for a long time. He never procrastinates and only does the tasks he's confident of. Since F&R Enterprise possesses the latest network technology, I believe that they're a more capable partner in the field of artificial intelligence."

He raised his gaze and it landed on Nicole's face as he continued, "Even if the investment ended up a failure, it's only a loss of several hundred billion. If it's a success, the net worth of the Gardner Corporation will double."

A loss of several hundred billion only? Nicole thought bitterly. Only a rich guy could say such things.

She struggled a little and got out of his embrace before she added, "You should deal with the business with F&R Enterprise at the moment. I'll handle my mother's business on my own."

Colton, however, wasn't pleased to see her acting all distant with him. Thus, he grabbed her arm and confronted her, "Are you trying to cut ties with me right now?"

She blinked for a moment and commented in innocence, "President Gardner, we're strangers, aren't we? There's no need to cut ties in the first place."

He became less happy after hearing her words. He considered the best for her in every aspect, but the heartless Nicole never thought about him, not even once.

Pinching her face, he sneered, "So, you don't remember the relationship between us. Do you need me to remind you?"

As he finished his words, he slid his hand down her face without her permission.

The blood drained from Nicole's face within a split second. We're at the Gardner Residence, and we're even outside the house!
