Right Person, Wrong Time

Chapter 775

With a calm expression, Nicole swept a glance over the surroundings. There were only a small number of people in the theme park, which was suspicious. She looked doubtfully at Colton.

Meanwhile, Colton didn't intend to lie to her as he explained, "This place is always full of people, regardless of when you come here. That won't be a pleasant experience."

Nicole arched her brow and asked, "Is that why you booked the entire place?"

"Yes." Colton nodded and shifted his attention to Hayden, who was having fun. "However, it'll be boring if there's no one else in the theme park. So, I asked some staff members with kids to come over and play with Hayden." His voice sounded dispassionate, but his words were reassuring.

Nicole followed his gaze and looked at her son. He seemed to be talking with a kid. There was a look of joy on his petite face. It was only at such a moment that he looked as cheerful as a child.

A moment later, Hayden galloped toward them and took both of his parents' hands. He exclaimed, "Carousel time!"

He then pointed at the Carousel nearby. Since they were in the kids' area, the wooden horses were smaller. Also, the equipment was mostly pink, which was in stark contrast to Colton's demeanor.

A smile played on Nicole's lips as she said, "Sure. Let's go."

Hayden turned around and gazed at Colton with his watery eyes. There seemed to be magic in his eyes as he asked childishly, "Are you coming with us, Daddy? We've never been on one together before."

As Colton listened to his soft voice, he couldn't bring himself to turn down any of his requests. He nodded and took Hayden's hand as they shuffled toward the wooden horses.

Hayden chose a horse in blue and white for Colton and a pink one for Nicole. Then, he got onto the smaller horse between the two larger ones. They looked just like a family of three.

Initially, Nicole thought Colton would refuse to play such childish games. Much to her surprise, he never turned down any of the kid's requests and kept him company all the time.

As Nicole watched them having a whale of a time, she couldn't help but bat her eyes. She had to acknowledge that Colton was a competent father.

However, the father and son were actually having a serious discussion as they played a game.

Hayden whispered, "I told you I would let you see my mom, but you must keep your promise and not make her sad!"

Colton looked down at the mature-looking kid. As expected of my child, Hayden is smart. Despite his young age, he was already so intelligent.

Then, Colton stroked his head and replied with a smile, "I got it. I'll settle the issues with the Gardner Family as soon as possible. Don't worry. Even if I leave the Gardner Family, I'll still be capable of taking care of you and your mother."

Hayden looked away and snorted before falling silent. In fact, he had always wanted to get a man for his mother, for he didn't have the heart to see her toiling away to put food on the table. The first person he selected was Zachary.
