The nurse's brows slightly creased, for she could have already performed the blood transfusion if possible. She looked at Evelyn and elucidated, "This is a special case as the patient has blood type A Rh negative. Our blood bank doesn't have that. We are now applying for deployment for her hemorrhage."

A buzzing sound whirred Evelyn's mind as she could barely follow the nurse. Her glazed eyes landed upon Colton, who thought for a moment before saying, "My medical team doesn't have type-A Rh negative either. It is indeed rare."

The nurse nodded and continued, "Where are the patient's children? They can have the same blood type."

A pale-faced Evelyn shook her head while biting her lip. "I-I'm not. I'm O."

Her mind was a mess because she had never heard that from Siobhan.

Disappointment flashed across the nurse's face as she sighed. "I'll contact other hospitals for deployment."

Just as she was about to leave, the silent Nicole piped up, "I'm type-A Rh negative."

The nurse's eyes instantly glimmered, and she pulled Nicole's hand. "Please come to the lab with me. If your blood is a match, we can transfuse the blood immediately."

The news of Nicole donating blood pulled Evelyn back from her reverie. She strode forward to yank Nicole over aggressively. "No way! I don't trust you! What if you're sick? What if it's transmitted to my mother?"

Nicole watched the girl who was 'sick' with temper tantrums and toned down her voice. "Miss Wrenn, this is a matter of life and death. It's not the time to throw tantrums."

However, her rebuke added fuel to Evelyn's ire. "I don't need your fake kindness. I bet you wish for this to happen to my family!"

"Enough!" Colton turned his head and chided sternly.

Grievance loomed over her while tears pooled in Evelyn's eyes. "This woman here is hoping the worst for me. How can I be sure she's healthy and not trying to hurt my mother!?"

Nicole sniggered lightly at that accusation. While her bright eyes fixed on Evelyn, she spoke with repose, "Not everyone's as evil as you, Miss Wrenn. One has to go through a medical check-up before a blood donation. The hospital will never take one's life lightly. Are you going to delay your mother's treatment just because of your grudge?"

The nurse chipped in. "Yes, a medical check-up has to be done first."

Evelyn clenched her fists, intending to counter back, but Colton pre-empted her. "Nicky, follow the nurse and get a check-up first. If it's a match, you know what to do."

"Colton!" shouted Evelyn anxiously.

He glared at her and told her off in return, "Now's not the time to run your silly temper!"

"What if—"

"If anything happens, I will take the responsibility." He interrupted before she could finish her words.

In the end, she bit her lower lip in grievance and kept quiet. In the meantime, the nurse led Nicole through the necessary procedures deftly without a second thought while someone's life was at stake. The process did not take long, and the blood-matching result was soon confirmed.

Nicole did not say much and agreed to donate her blood without hesitation. However, she was under dizzy spells after that.

Colton came up to her from the hospital entrance. The sight of her blanched face pained him, and his voice was croaky. "Nicky, are you alright?"
