Chapter 791

Nicole rested her palm on her forehead. It was probably due to the blood donation that fatigue sapped her strength. With a pale expression, she shook her head and reassured Colton softly, "I'm fine. Just kinda dizzy."

She had to donate a lot of blood since Siobhan had suffered from a hemorrhage. He gently propped her up while holding a bowl of warm soup to her lips. "Have some of this. Tell me if you feel sick."

She took small sips of it, and the sweetness cascaded to her stomach from her mouth, warming her body. After drinking two sips of it, the cloud of dizziness faded. She wondered if it was her brain under a spell of illusion.

Subsequently, he lowered his head and stared at her. Her face was pallid as she nestled against his chest like a hurt bunny. It was such a forlorn sight to watch.

"Have some more," he urged softly.

She shook her head feebly, and even her voice was weightless. "It's alright. I feel better now."

Silent, Colton set the bowl atop a table to carry Nicole in his arms. His abrupt action caught her off-guard, and she placed her hands against his chest naturally.

Her reflex elicited a genuine smile on his face.

"P-Put me down. I'm just a little dizzy. It's not like I can't walk," she stammered with her words.

Now that she was in his arms, she could not help the awkwardness. She rested her head against his chest while listening to his loud, steady heartbeat.

"You're dizzy, but you'll feel better if I carry you this way." His voice was hoarse.

As the husky voice surged from his chest, Nicole could feel the slight tremble when he talked.

"No. I can walk on my own." She refused. Although they had done everything a couple could do, she still could not help the red tinge on her cheeks whenever Colton made his advances.

Ignoring her protest, he trod forward while carrying her. She squirmed a few times in his arms, intending to break free from him. Suddenly, he slapped her in the butt and warned dangerously, "Don't move, or you gotta put out the fire if you touch somewhere you shouldn't."

Almost instantly, she turned docile upon his admonition. Her stiff body did not move a muscle in his arms, whereas he found her meek concession hilarious.

Nicole hung her head low, coiling up her body as much as possible. Colton donned his casual clothes today, and the faint whiff on him did not smell like the fragrance but more like his body scent.

As an afterthought, her hazy mind suddenly became limpid. What the hell am I thinking? Why am I thinking about his body scent? Because it's been a long time since I got myself a man? Am I having lustful imaginations already? No, that's not right. I haven't been with another man since I slept with Colton five years back then.

"I'll drive you home. You need some rest after this."

Nicole pondered for a moment. "No. Bring me to the operating room. I can help."
