Chapter 792

Nicole leveled with Colton without the intention of hiding anything from him. "Siobhan just feels like someone familiar to me. There's a strange affection between us. I can't help but save her."

Her serious expression made him smile, but he did not say anything further. Feeling listless, she rested against his chest. "Besides, look how influential the Wrenn Family is. They now owe me one because I helped them. Not anyone can have this luck."

He pursed his lips at her words. "You've done them a favor by donating blood to Madam Gould. Jackson is a righteous soldier. He will be sure to repay you."

"Since I'm already the good person here, I should carry out my duties until the end. Take me to the operating room. I wanna know what's going on right now," requested Nicole.

"I bet you won't be able to perform the surgery in this state." The weight in Colton's arms was way too light. Despite her tall stature, she was as light as a feather.

"I know, but I can give professional advice, can't I? Why? Are you opposed to my decision?" she questioned back.

"No, I'm just worried your body can't take it." He tightened his arms around her, pulling her closer to himself.

No one knew since when he turned into a man full of sweet nothings. His slick words could make one blush like a breeze.

While she no longer refused his offer and cuddled in his arms meekly, he carried her to the operating room. At the same time, Evelyn was sitting on a bench outside while hugging her head. Her body curled into a ball, looking as pitiful as ever.

Yet, Colton's compassion was only reserved for Nicole.

Hearing noises coming in her direction, Evelyn turned her head only to see him carrying Nicole. The pupils of her eyes contracted, and her hands formed fists on her knees. Anger was palpable on her visage, but she could not lash it out.

Meanwhile, he set Nicole on a bench, and she withdrew her hands embarrassingly while seating herself. He chuckled lightly upon her bashful reaction.

Evelyn's eyes were blazing in fire at their intimate interactions. Why? Just why is Colton so nice to Nicole Anderson but treats me so coldly?!

By then, the medical team had arrived under request. Those skilled professionals went straight into the operating room.

Silence filled the hallway as the beeping sound of machines bobbed across the air occasionally. About an hour later, a doctor exited the operating room.

Evelyn inquired jitterily, "What's going on? How's my mother?"

He pulled down his medical mask. "There's a congestion clog in her brain, but we've removed it. The wounds on her are fine, and we've transfused the blood to her. She's much better but hasn't regained consciousness just yet."

A wave of relief passed over Evelyn as she sighed. It was fine as long as her mother was safe and sound. Meanwhile, Nicole inclined in the chair and felt a sensation of comfort settle in her upon hearing that. She then stood up, preparing to take her leave.

Possibly due to the long wait or the blood donation, a moment of trance hit her when she rose from her seat. She almost fell to the ground, but she managed to support herself by holding the bench.
