Nicole got up in haste and responded politely, "Old Mrs. Gould, the stories you shared earlier were interesting, and I enjoyed them very much."

Rita could not contain her smile and replied, "Okay. Let's talk further when we get the chance."

Once she left, Zachary inched closer and asked, "Since when are you on such good terms with Old Mrs. Gould?"

Nicole shrugged and reached out conveniently to retrieve the plate by the side. There were some dainty-looking cupcakes on it with some cold cuts by the side. She used a toothpick and tasted the cake. Finally, she spoke up after taking a bite. "I've just made acquaintance with her right before this."

He could not help smiling at the sight of her foodie front. "I never realized that you were so good at socializing."

Meanwhile, Nicole continued to taste her cupcake bit by bit. She had been starving since the afternoon and only had some drinks throughout the day, so she was indeed ravenous. As she placed the cupcake into her mouth, she found it sweet and fragrant.

She licked the cream from the side of her lips and lifted her head to look at Zachary as she spoke, "There are a lot of things that you don't know about me. Did you think I achieved that by relying solely on my designs?"


Chuckling, he was amused by her confident words and even found her exceptionally adorable.

On the other end, Evelyn was seething with anger even after returning to her room. She wrapped herself in her blanket and still could not comprehend why her parents had decided to adopt Nicole.

She could not contain her anger as she thought of that. Her parents were intelligent, so she knew they would not land on that major decision without any valid reason. Could it be Nicole's idea?

As soon as Evelyn thought of that, she raged further, and her face flushed crimson out of anger. She reached out and slammed her fist on the blanket. Suddenly, she scrambled up from bed and clenched her teeth. I won't let Nicole get her way! There will only be one daughter from the Wrenns, and that will be me!

"Miss Wrenn." A woman's voice suddenly rang by the door, which pulled Evelyn back to her senses.

She stared at the person at the entrance warily and asked, "Who's there?"

"Miss Wrenn, a parcel has just arrived for you, and I was informed to hand it to you. That's why I've come over. I'm sorry if I have disrupted you."

Parcel? Evelyn was confused as she did not recall shopping online lately. Besides, even if she did, it would not have been delivered to the Gould Residence since she had only returned recently.

Although there seemed to be something strange going on with this matter, she gestured for the person to enter the room anyway. "Place the parcel by the bedside and leave if nothing else. Don't let anyone else enter my room without approval from me." Her voice was cold.
