Right Person, Wrong Time

Chapter 896

Madeline had supported her until she came of age, after which the former collapsed due to poor health. Subsequently, she worked part-time while studying, spending every penny she earned on Madeline's medical treatment. Because of that, her whole childhood was spent in depression.

Now that her mother had shown up all of a sudden, Nicole felt her heart flutter. "Okay, but I have to bring my son with me," she replied.

A faint smile appeared on Siobhan's face when she saw that Nicole had agreed to it. Facing this stranger of a daughter, she inevitably felt a little guilty, and the reunion with her long-lost daughter caused her to approach Nicole with great care. "Well then, just pack your belongings and move into the Gould Residence tomorrow. I'll bring you home once the matter is over," she suggested in a soft voice.

Evelyn was already green with envy as she looked on, but she could only bite her lip hard. At this very moment, she dared not say anything for fear that the Wrenn Family would abandon her. If she were revealed to be William's daughter, she would become worthless.

Seeing that Siobhan was fixated on Nicole, Jackson beckoned to Gabriel, saying, "Come on, let the mother and daughter spend some time together."

Gabriel then dragged Evelyn away, leaving only Nicole and Siobhan in the entire room.

Siobhan looked up at Nicole while hesitating to speak. No sooner had they first met than she noticed that they looked very much alike. However, she had never expected Nicole to be her biological daughter. She was still suspicious when Gabriel put the results of the DNA paternity test before her. She wasn't suspecting that he was lying to her; rather, she dared not believe that her daughter had been switched at birth so many years ago. It wasn't until she had obtained Evelyn's hair sample and done a DNA paternity test on both her and Evelyn that she realized Evelyn really wasn't her own daughter.

Siobhan concealed the complicated look in her eyes. Nicole had suffered a lot over so many years; if she hadn't been swapped at birth by Madeline, she wouldn't have gotten pregnant out of wedlock five years ago. After falling silent for a long time, she said slowly, "I'm sorry about what happened to you."

Nicole shook her head. She replied softly, "You don't have to be sorry about it. You didn't mean it, after all."

Seeing how considerate she was, Siobhan felt even guiltier deep down. I've owed Nicole a lot for so many years, she thought. "I'll explain everything to the media once you get familiar with our family and want to make your identity public," she said. Nicole deserves these things.

Nicole paused for a moment. Suddenly, she asked, "In that case, Madam Gould, what are you going to do with Evelyn?"

Siobhan was instantly stumped by her question. Evelyn wasn't her own daughter, but how could she possibly forget about the child she had brought up for over 20 years? She knew that Nicole and Evelyn were at odds with each other, but she could do nothing about it. "I've brought her up for over 20 years, after all. Now that Madeline is dead and William is in prison, I can't leave her in the lurch," she explained frankly.
