When Nicole returned home, she discovered a silhouette lying on the sofa. Taking a closer look, she realized it was Zachary.

As soon as she got closer, Zachary opened his eyes on the sofa. Upon seeing that it was Nicole, he got up with a slight smile on his face and looked at her, saying, "You're back."

She nodded somewhat tiredly and hummed in reply. Glancing down at him, she noticed that an abnormal red flush had crept up on his face. With a slight frown, she reached out and touched his forehead, only to find it was hot to the touch.

"Did you catch a fever?" Nicole asked.

Zachary pulled her hand away, his throat a little hoarse as he denied, "It's nothing, just a minor headache. Probably because I haven't slept well in the past few days."

Nicole got up and went upstairs. A short while later, she came back down with a small first aid kit in hand. Deftly retrieving the contents from the first aid kit, she then took his temperature. Unsurprisingly, he was a little over 100 degrees, showing that he really caught a fever. No wonder he was lying on the sofa. He's ill.

"You caught a fever. It's on the higher side too. You should take some medicine."

She took the pills and stuffed them into his mouth, then poured a glass of water from the table and shoved it into his hand in one go. A faint smile broke out on his face as he watched Nicole's briskness before he took the glass of water and downed it in one gulp.

"Get some sleep after taking your medicine, and the fever should subside," she said quickly.

Zachary barely had any energy left in him now. Half leaning on the sofa, he looked at the busy woman in front of him and asked with a hoarse voice, "How did your meeting with the Wrenn Family go today?"

Nicole, who was tidying up, stiffened slightly. Only after a while did she turn her head and say, "They said they wanted to hold a press conference to acknowledge me."

Zachary let out a light laugh, his palm falling on the sofa as he said softly, "Then, you'll be the lady of the Wrenn Family from now on. Your status has risen. I suppose I have to treat you with greater respect in the future."

"I didn't agree," she replied lowly.

As a layer of doubt flashed past his eyes, Zachary slightly raised his gaze to look at her, wrinkling his brow in question. "Why, did someone from the Wrenn Family pick on you?"

"No, it's just that everything happened so suddenly that I haven't come to terms with it yet. I told them not to make it public for the time being and to develop our relationship for now."

Her voice was a little muffled, sounding somewhat sullen.
