Chapter 902

Evelyn wailed, her eyes swimming with tears. Her whole face turned red as she cried and sniffled, making her look extremely pitiful.

As Siobhan looked at her daughter kneeling at her feet, her heart was flooded with pain. She must've heard what Rita just said. Indeed, if Evelyn's identity were to be made public now, Benedict would never allow the marriage to happen.

Siobhan sighed softly before reaching out to pull Evelyn up.

Evelyn was still crying incessantly. Her body jerked and convulsed with her sobs and she hiccupped while saying, "Mom… Hic… Mom, please let me marry Colton… Y-You know that I've only liked him all these years…"

Evelyn bit her lip with reddened eyes, looking as miserable as could be.

Siobhan looked at her sobbing daughter and reached out to pat her back reassuringly, consoling, "Now, now, stop crying, alright? We'll let things go with the flow, and nobody will stop you."

Upon seeing that Siobhan agreed, Evelyn forced a smile. After a moment of thought, she added in a choked voice, "Mom, d-don't you worry… Once I marry Colton, I won't come back and cause you any trouble."

After all, Siobhan had been raising Evelyn since she was little, and she couldn't bear to see her suffer. She sighed faintly and reached out to caress Evelyn's hair, a conflicted look flashing past her eyes.

"You should go back. Your engagement is in a few days. It's not good for you to cry so much," Siobhan said in a soft voice.

While listening to Siobhan's words, Evelyn was already much relieved. As long as Siobhan didn't ruin things, there was still hope for her. In just three days, after her engagement with Colton was completed, she could receive her marriage certificate with him; her marriage with Colton would be made official then. She didn't want to give up this opportunity.

"Okay," Evelyn replied lowly before she slowly took her leave.

After Evelyn left, Siobhan returned to her seat. She had no idea what to do. One of them was her own daughter, and the other was the child she had raised for many years; it was an impossible choice to make. She knew very well that Evelyn grew up loving Colton. Evelyn was just three days away from her goal, and if she told the Gardner Family about her true identity, Evelyn would probably go crazy.

At the thought of this, Siobhan slowly closed her eyes without saying anything more.
