Chapter 943 Pregnant

Colton didn't show much of a reaction to Nicole's outburst.

Staring at him with her eyes ablaze, she began to take a few steps back.

Meanwhile, Colton didn't stop closing in on her. "What's the matter?" He looked at her face glumly. "You got mad out of embarrassment just because I told Zachary that we were tangled up in the sheets? Nicole, are you thinking of stringing him along even after we slept together?"

Nicole, who didn't expect to hear such harsh words from him, was so angry she was about to blow her top.

She clenched her fists and looked up at Colton. "You have no right to stick your nose into my business when you don't know anything."

For some reason, she began to sob as she stared at him, "Zachary was the one who helped me when I was abroad with no money, no nothing except for Hayden, who was one month old. Hayden and I would have starved to death overseas if it weren't for Zachary!"

Nicole sniffled when she recalled how Zachary was the one who gave her the opportunity to work at F&M Apparel and a place to stay when she was homeless and jobless.

Her life was black and white before Zachary came along and painted her a rainbow.

Her gratitude toward him was why she never avoided him even after she rejected his confessions.

Even though she had made it clear to him, he said he didn't mind and he only wanted to stay by her side.

That was also the reason why she didn't agree to be with Colton even though she started catching feelings.

Colton was stunned as he looked at the stubborn person in front of her, and all he could do was purse his lips. It was true that he wasn't by her side during the most difficult years of her life.

Nicole's eyes were red and her fists were tightly balled up. She only muttered after a while, "Colton, I don't know what I am to you, but I hope you don't concern yourself with me. Let's just pretend nothing happened between us that night."

Looking at how she kept putting on a tough front, Colton reached out and held her. "Nicole, is Zachary really that important to you?" He then hissed, "Or do you like him? Is that what it is?"

"Whether I like him or not has nothing to do with you!" She pulled herself out of his hold and stormed off ahead.

She knew that she didn't love Zachary that way, or else she would have given in after his years of pursuing her.

Nicole never accepted his feelings because she didn't want to hurt him. After all, he was someone who had helped her before. She was afraid that she would end up breaking his heart if she said yes to being together, only for her to not feel the same for him.

Still, things didn't end well now.

She closed her eyes and regretted being associated with Colton in any way at all. She and Zachary would have stayed the same if Colton was out of the picture.
