Chapter 948 I’m Afraid

Nicole had now calmed down a bit. As of late, she would quickly become anxious whenever it came to something related to her son.

However, Colton was right. They needed to find the culprit.

She slowly exhaled and looked up at him before asking calmly, "Who do you think could have poisoned Hayden?"

In the Wrenn Family, Nicole couldn't think of anyone who could hate her so much besides Evelyn.

However, she didn't believe Evelyn was that stupid to poison Hayden in the Wrenn Residence, as it would only lead to her being caught.

"Please don't worry. Whoever did this will be thoroughly investigated by all three families. We won't let the culprit get away with it," Colton reassured her.

Nicole nodded. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She assumed it was because she was pregnant that her emotions were uncontrollable and fluctuating wildly.

"Okay," she responded.

Siobhan looked at Nicole's pale face and patted her shoulder, saying softly, "Nicole, you are much too pale right now. Go rest. I'll look after Hayden. Don't worry. If anything happens, I'll call you."

Nicole looked worriedly at Hayden, who lay motionless on the bed. However, she had things to do.

"Alright. Thank you for taking care of Hayden," Nicole said in a low voice.

Siobhan waved her hand. "Don't worry," she stated. "Hayden is in good hands. You just got back from overseas, so you must be tired. Go back and rest."

Nicole hummed a reply and left. She had wanted to visit Gould Residence to investigate the matter immediately, but Colton saw how tired she was and refused to let her go. He insisted on taking her home.

"Your body is weak now and you're with child. You'd best rest well," Colton murmured.

Nicole's eyes turned red and she mumbled, "I can't relax knowing that Hayden was poisoned. Someone poisoned him, and I must find out who did it!"

"At most, you will only rest for a short while. It's already past 5.00PM. We rushed here without resting properly. Let's rest for a while, and I'll send someone to investigate what happened in the Gould Residence," Colton said before lifting Nicole onto the bed.

Although Nicole was tired, she couldn't sleep when she thought of her son lying in the hospital bed.

Colton also knew that she couldn't sleep now, so he touched her cheek and comforted her, "Nicky, I know what you're thinking, but your health is important too."
