Less than five minutes after Henry left, Mia's voice echoed through the yard again: "You little troublemaker! I bought you that shuttlecock to kick, not to pluck the feathers out!"

Henry, still sulking, shot back, "Hey! Grandma, I told you already-I'm not a little bunny, I'm a tiger cub!"

Mia was even more annoyed. "I don't care what kind of cub you are. Get over here and take your punishment."

By the window, Andre glanced at his son and took a calm sip of his herbal tea. Peace and quiet were pretty much a myth in this house.

Weekends were supposed to be for resting, but Milka barely got to enjoy hers. She was still half-asleep when her phone buzzed. "Come on, let's go to Newtown and visit Lizzy," came the voice on the other end.

Milka grumbled, "I'm so tired."

"I'll fly. You can nap on the way."

But the moment she got on the plane, sleep was the last thing on her mind. All she wanted was to press her face to the window and watch the world roll by beneath her.

Mars was at the controls, glancing over with a smile. "Remember when I first joined the squad? I used to call you at night and promise to take you flying one day. Looks like I finally kept that promise."

Back then, Milka was seventeen, buried in college entrance exams and stress. Mars was two years older, just starting out in the squad, and the rules for newbies were strict-no phones allowed. Still, Mars always found a way to call her.
