Chapter 131 V.L can’t be finished
When Ladarius woke up, he just felt as if his head was about to explode.
Especially his forehead, raising his eyelids hurt so much that he grimaced and could only move less.
Not only did his head hurt, but also his chest and abdomen and there was no part of his body that was not uncomfortable. He tried to move his hands and feet, but they felt numb from the thighs down and he could not feel anything at all.
When he opened his eyes to see his surroundings, all he could see was white, which frightened him and when he saw the bottle on his right side, he became even more frightened.
There were faint sounds of sobbing, but he couldn’t even see where anyone was and it was difficult to turn his head.
The memory came back into his head a little and he remembered going to the lab to look for Vivi, seeing … then, as he drove out, he … crashed his car.
Yes! He crashed the car! So now this was … him not dying? But why would his legs be unconscious?!
Panic set in as he thought of the possibilities and tried to call someone, “Someone, someone, is anyone there?”
He tried to get up, but the simple act was difficult for him, but luckily someone soon pounced on the bed, “Ladarius!”
“…” Ladarius didn’t expect to see Vivienne as the first person he saw when he woke up and, with a flash of anger, he blurted out, “Go away!”
“Ladar…”
“Get out of here, get the hell out of here!”
He didn’t want to see her, at least not now, the sight of her filled his mind with that disgusting image!
Haphazardly he tried to slam something over but didn’t have any strength at all, the strength he
had now just allowed him to get the pin on the back of his hand loose.
“Ladarius take it easy, I’ll call the nurse for you first, take it easy, take it easy!”
Vivienne quickly got the nurse here and they re-stuck the needle, adjusted the drip rate again and explained, “The medicine has worn off, you can move your hand a little, but don’t move too much, you’ll have to do it again if the needle is crooked.”
“Of course you can!” The nurse looked at him strangely. “It will be fine once the medicine has worn off, just don’t be in too much of a hurry, take it little by little.”
“I didn’t… get my leg amputated?” Incredulous, he asked while trying to move his foot again.
He thought that he had been amputated.
The tree was so big, it went straight into it and nothing.
Waking up in a hospital and not feeling his legs, he naturally thought of those TV shows where they all get amputated.
“Who told you to get your legs amputated? It’s not like your legs are injured, just two broken ribs, but the operation went well, you just have to recuperate.” After a quick explanation, the nurse added, “Don’t move around any more!
Only did she walk out with the tray
Ladarius didn’t know if it was a psychological effect or if the anaesthetic had just passed, but he could really feel his feet moving, a faint but real sensation.
He owed his body a little harder, but he didn’t see his legs, only the quilt covering him.
Probably guessing what he wanted to do, Vivienne rushed forward to help him lift the covers and squeezed his leg, “Look, it’s really not an amputation, you’re fine! Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!”
“Relieved?” Giving her a sidelong glance, Ladarius sneered, “I’m just too relieved for you!
“…” Vivienne sighed as she helped him put the covers back on, then stood up.
“I know you hate me right now and probably, want to kill me! But Ladarius, I didn’t lie to you, I really had something to do with it! I did it for our future too.
I know this whole thing has hurt you a lot, do what you want, hit me and scold me all you want, but, right now you must be calm and not hurt yourself, okay?”
Her voice was as gentle as ever, her eyes full of apology and concern, Ladarius kept his face slack but had stopped speaking to tell her to get lost.
“Do you know that my heart broke when I heard the news that you crashed your car! I was really scared, scared to lose you like that! Ladarius, I don’t want to lose you, I love you!” Vivienne whispered as she gently took his left hand in hers.
“…” remained silent and Ladarius withdrew his hand from hers.
Undaunted by his movement, she continued, “The lab has tested it and the new product is perfectly fine! Ladarius, I am absolutely sure that this new product will bring miracles to the company!”
After another moment of silence, Ladarius said, “The formula for the perfume this time, was …
given to you by him, right?”
After a pause, he passes over the “he” quickly, as if it would dirty his mouth to speak any slower.
Of course, he didn’t even bother to mention the name,
Vivienne naturally knew who he was referring to and didn’t deny it, “Yes.”
“You’re not going to tell me that you took him to the lab to improve the formula?” Lifting his eyelids, Ladarius stared at her face as if trying to discern from her expression whether she was telling the truth or not.
“Yes!” Or an affirmative nod of acknowledgement.
“Heh…” Breathing a sign of relief, he laughed a mocking, bitter smile.
“Ladarius, I admit I’m sorry. But I really did it for our future, for V.L.” taking advantage of the
subject, Vivienne continued, “It’s not that you don’t know where I’m at, or how much the guys at the lab are capable of.
Ever since Silvia made such a mess, the company’s sales have been falling by the day, its reputation has been slipping and the last time the production line went wrong, it almost ruined the company.”
“If we don’t come up with a new product soon, get our sales up and get this annual competition award, the company is really in jeopardy!” She spoke at length, but Ladarius looked indifferent.
“Do you think that I don’t know that the guys on the board, are putting pressure on you?” She said
faintly. “If the company doesn’t take off in the next two months, what will you do? What about me?
What about V.L?!”
I
Her words caused Ladarius to finally react differently.
His lips twitched vaguely at the corners and he slowly closed his eyes, with what could be seen, a
noticeably strong rise and fall of his chest.
Slowly, a sigh escaped his lips.
Happy or not, he had to admit that Vivienne was telling the truth.
On the surface, V.L. still looked the same as before, but in fact it was already riddled with holes.
If they don’t come up with new products as soon as possible and bring back the market reputation, so that people won’t say that they are dying and only eating their old money, the board of directors will really withdraw their investment.
Then, it would really be over!
But, V.L cannot be finished!
