The pain was overwhelming, and her heart ached profoundly. Despite that, Jameson did not move to her. He lowered his gaze and got into the waiting car.

The black sedan swiftly merged into traffic. In just a few seconds, Marion could not see Jameson’s car anymore. Under the dim yellow streetlights, the blood-stained white wedding gown appeared excessively vivid in its crimson hue.

Bernadette stood on the side, her face drained of color, too frightened to move Marion, afraid of causing her further harm.

“Marion, don’t be afraid. I’ll call an ambulance right away!”

Her attention was focused solely on Marion despite just having watched her son leave the wedding venue.
