Avery, who was still in a foul mood from her cramp, looked up curiously when she noticed the crowd's sudden silence. It was then that she saw Cayden walking over with a stern look on his face.

Dressed in a sharp suit, he was surrounded by an air of divinity.

At the end of the day, Cayden was still the boss. Regardless of whether he was in the world financial center, a conference room, or at a team-building activity, he would always maintain a strict expression.

It was as if no one in this world could remove that ruthless look off his face.

Despite driving all the way to the outskirts, he was still dressed in his usual suit, giving others a sophisticated and demanding impression.

Cayden coming over was something Avery hadn't seen coming at all.

What is he doing here?

With the sun in her eyes, Avery squinted at him before checking to see that there was no one else behind her.

Looks like he's here to see me.

It wasn't that Avery was reluctant to interact with him; she just didn't want to do it in full view of her colleagues.

“What's wrong? Are you unwell?” Losing his airs, Cayden knelt down and swept a worried gaze over her ankle and pale cheeks.

The moment their eyes met, Avery knitted her brows and noticed that he was doing the same out of concern for her.

Assuming that he had come over because he was worried about her injury, she quickly shook her head and averted her eyes from his worried gaze. “I'm fine. You should go back to what you're doing.”

The last place she wanted to be was in the spotlight.

As if the surroundings and everyone present had faded into the background, Cayden got to his feet and ordered, “Come here.”

Cecelia, who had been called, hurried over at once.

“What's wrong with Avery?” Despite being filled with concern, Cayden recovered his stern expression in front of Cecelia.

“She...” Cecelia had never feared anyone at all even if they were government leaders. However, Cayden's intimidating aura had caused her to be tongue-tied. “Avery... Avery is having cramps in her leg because of the cold water. She's feeling under the weather.”

When Cecelia mentioned “cramps,” Cayden had already turned away. Kneeling down again, he stretched out his arms toward Avery and asked, “Can you stand by yourself?”

Realizing what he was about to do, Avery instinctively got to her feet. However, the moment she moved, her leg would cramp up painfully again.

When Cayden saw the grimace on her face, he picked her up in his arms without any hesitation.

“Let go of me. Put me down.” Avery spoke in a voice so soft that only Cayden could hear her.

“Stop moving! Or I'll kiss you in public!”

Carrying her snugly in his arms, he walked toward the black Land Rover parked some distance away. When she tried to free herself, he met her gaze with a mischievous yet concerned look.

Everyone present was dumbstruck by what they saw.

Yvonne, too, was so infuriated by the sight that she threw her shawl away in anger.

Silence ensued. No one dared to ask why their boss was leaving with Avery in his arms.

As for Yvonne, whom everyone thought was Cayden's girl, she didn't even manage to make physical contact with the man.

In fact, Cayden had ignored her outright. It was as if she wasn't there and was no different from an ordinary female employee in the company.

To him, she didn't even deserve a glance.

With sunset beckoning, the event came to a close.

While packing up, the neighboring teams started gossiping. “What's Avery's relationship with Mr. Moore?”

“She wasn't able to walk, probably from a fall, or she might have just sprained her leg. Perhaps Mr. Moore was being kind by helping out a female employee,” someone else remarked naively in the midst of packing.

“Mr. Moore? Kind? Are you blind? Since when was he ever kind before? In fact, he is likely the coldest person I have ever met. Who knows, he might be the frostiest in the entire world too!”

Another female employee who had heard a lot about Cayden lamented, “Regardless of how Avery injured herself, the kindest gesture Mr. Moore could manage was to instruct someone to call the ambulance. Other than that, he doesn't care at all. Also, I heard that he's extremely harsh on himself, let alone someone else.”

Yvonne overheard those words when she returned to her car with her bag in her hand.

As the staff from other departments hadn't interacted with Yvonne before, they were oblivious to who she was.

Ignoring Yvonne's presence, she continued, “Mr. Moore personally picked her up and carried her to the car. It's clear that their relationship is beyond ordinary. Besides, don't you know that Mr. Moore's approval is required before anyone can be hired into the design department? After all, it's the most important department in the entire company. Mr. Moore must have had an eye on Avery when she was initially offered the job. Also, I heard that no woman has ever sat beside Mr. Moore in the front passenger seat before. Someone asked Mr. Dartsley about it at the annual dinner last year. His reply was that only Mr. Moore's girlfriend or wife has the right to take that seat.”

Once the lady finished packing, she looked in Xavier's direction. “Let me ask him who Avery is to the boss since she's sitting in the front passenger seat.”
