Avery's right eyelid twitched, and she grew even more skeptical about this.

Although her heart was pounding, she still forced herself to stay calm.

She politely knocked on the door that was ajar and heard a low and familiar male voice saying, “Come in.”

Avery pushed the door open. An inexplicable sense of anxiety wrapped around her when she took in the distinct scented oil fragrance in the air.

She noticed Nina was not inside the room, so she turned around and wanted to walk away, but a pair of strong hands pulled her inside. Then, with a loud thud, the door was kicked shut.

Avery grew alarmed when she saw it was Dylan grabbing her.

Unaware of what had happened before she arrived, Avery panicked and snarled, “Dylan, did you send the message using Nina's phone? What are you trying to do?”

Dylan smirked devilishly and grabbed Avery's chin, wanting to kiss her forcefully.

Avery would never let him do that. She tried to slap him, but he caught her arm just in time.

Dylan's eyes flickered with lust, and he tightened his grip around her wrist while stroking her palm with his fingers.

Avery refused to let him get his way with her. She raised her left hand again in an attempt to slap him, but he smugly clicked his tongue.

Dylan placed his index finger next to her lips, gesturing for her to stay quiet. “Be good. You can't use violence against your husband all the time. Did you come here to attack me? Don't you want to know what happened to your best friend? Be a good girl, and I might give you some information about her.”

Glaring at him, Avery suppressed her disgust and asked, “Do you want to go to jail again?”

Dylan sneered at that and remained unfazed. Then he tried to kiss her cheek.

Avery dodged his kiss, and Dylan's expression turned cold instantly. He grabbed her jaw, and his firm grip felt as if he wanted to smash her jaw bones.

There was a big gap between a man's and a woman's strength. Avery could not anger him and dared not act recklessly if she wanted to learn about Nina's situation. Her delicate eyes were filled with hatred as she met his gaze stubbornly.

“Dylan, don't involve others in the matters between us. Nina is innocent. You can hate me all you want, but not her. Whatever it is, just take it out on me.” Avery's lips trembled slightly out of anger.

Dylan grinned even more devilishly. “Either you spread your legs for me obediently, or your best friend will be in danger. The decision is yours.”

“You must be out of your mind!”

Avery's jaw was in pain due to his firm grip, but she still lifted her chin as she glared at him. She refused to show any sign of submission.

“Are you still trying to act like a virgin? You lost your chastity long ago. I know you did it with Cayden more than once, so drop the act! I am your legal husband, and it's not against the law for me to have sex with you. Do you think I'd forgive you for cheating on me so openly?” Dylan did not bother sugarcoating his words.

He was as unreasonable and brutal as ever. The look in his eyes was as though he was telling her he could break her jaw any time.

Avery spat, prompting Dylan to seal her lips forcefully with his.

His kiss was rough and fierce. It was as though he wanted to crush her, but there was nothing Avery could do no matter how much she struggled. Soon, she began to feel dizzy, and then she tried to bite him.

Being experienced in this, Dylan dodged her just in time.

Avery wiped her lips frantically as if something dirty was stuck on them.

She was about to lose her temper and curse him when he suddenly picked her up in his arms and tossed her onto the bed.

The soft bed bounced a little, then Dylan pinned himself on top of her.

Avery shivered in fear and swung her foot frantically at him. She yelled in a hoarse voice, “Dylan, don't you dare force your way with me! I can report you to the police for this!”

Dylan pressed Avery under him. Her sweet fragrance filled his nose as he felt her soft body under him.

He said smugly, “It's been a long time since we collected our marriage certificate. Don't you think it's time for us to take our marriage to the next stage?”

“Get lost! We're getting divorced soon, so why should we take things to the next stage now? Dylan, if you dare touch me, Cayden will not let you get away with this!” Avery's cheeks flushed with anger. She could not budge under him, so she tried to intimidate him with Cayden's name.

However, the moment she mentioned Cayden's name, she triggered Dylan to act even more recklessly.

It was inevitable for men to be competitive with each other. Dylan had been suppressed by Cayden for so many years. It was only natural for him to feel even angrier.

Avery had chosen the wrong time to bring up Cayden's name.

From Dylan's perspective, Avery belonged to him, yet Cayden had gotten to her first. He had long developed a deep hatred for Cayden, and Avery's words only triggered the timed bomb in his heart.

“Cayden? Who does he think he is? How dare you mention his name when he was the one who came in between us? I dare you to file a divorce, Avery! You'll see what I can do!” Dylan was infuriated. He pressed on her so hard in bed that he almost crushed her ribs. Then he started tearing her clothes apart.

Avery had always been weak, but she seemed to have gone mad at that moment. She grabbed, scratched, kicked, hit, and bit him hard. It was as if she wanted to fight to the death with him. However, given Dylan's strength, he still managed to pin her under him again effortlessly.

Taking in Avery's fair skin that had turned a little pink and feeling her smooth skin made Dylan feel extremely excited. At the thought that he could soon get a taste of her, Dylan had the urge to force his way now.
