At night, Avery wanted to stay in the ward and accompany Nina. But Nina chased her away.

Nina said that she could press the call bell to summon a nurse if she needed anything, so Avery didn't need to spend the whole day with her.

Moreover, Zachary and Rory were still young. They were at the age where they needed their mother's company. If Avery stayed in the hospital, Nina was worried that the children would miss her.

On top of that, Avery had been receiving incessant calls from Cayden. In the end, she had no choice but to return home.

As soon as the exhausted Avery stepped into the mansion, she realized something was amiss.

She had a bizarre feeling, but she couldn't put her finger on what was wrong.

She opened the door to her bedroom and was stunned by the scene before her eyes.

Countless beautiful, lovely flowers filled up the space within.

The wall in the middle was covered with colorful balloons of different shapes and sizes.

Pink veils were fluttering in the surroundings, exuding a pastoral vibe. It was a refreshing and dreamy sight.

On top of the table was an exquisite cake.

But what stood out most was the glittering words written on it: Happy Birthday, Mommy. We Love You!

Before Avery could compose herself from the surprise, two adorable children popped out from behind the wall decorated with balloons.

Each of them had a huge stuffed toy in their hands. The toys were almost the same height as them.

Heaving the stuffed animals, they walked over to Avery and said in unison, “Happy birthday, Mommy!”

Avery didn't expect this at all.

Putting a hand over her mouth, she calmed herself down for a while. Then she took the stuffed animals and planted passionate kisses on her children's foreheads.

“Thank you for the surprise, Sweethearts,” Avery said, sounding a little emotional.

In all her adult years, no one had ever remembered her birthday.

Back then, she had always spent this special day on her own.

Long, long ago, her grandfather was the only one who remembered her birthday, and the man used to cook her some eggs to celebrate her birthday.

After growing up and leaving her grandfather's side, no one else remembered her birthday since then.

She was twenty-four years old now, and she was blissful from the bottom of her heart since she had her children with her.

Zachary's stuffed animal was an innocent-looking brown bear.

Meanwhile, Rory gave her mother a cute, spotted deer.

Avery put the stuffed toys next to her bed.

This was her first time receiving gifts from her children. Hence, the joy of being a mother overwhelmed her.

Zachary and Rory soon nestled in her arms, seemingly reluctant to leave.

Avery was at a loss at that.

Since she just came back from the hospital and hadn't washed up, she was afraid she would spread the germs to them.

Children's immunity systems weren't as great as those of adults, after all.

“Sweethearts, I just went to the hospital today to visit Aunt Nina. I'm dirty. Let me take a shower first. Then I'll celebrate with you, okay?”

Nodding, Zachary and Rory loosened their grips.

After Avery went to the bathroom, Zachary patted the suit on him and adjusted his bow tie. “Rory, what do you think of my look today? Am I handsome?” he asked softly.

“Yes! You're the most handsome. You're even ten times more good-looking than Daddy,” Rory praised.

Rory was convinced that she knew about aesthetic judgment. In her heart, Cayden was her ultimate idol. Though she felt that Cayden was extremely easy on the eyes, she thought Zachary was the most handsome.

Hearing his sister's compliment, Zachary blushed. “You look great too, just like the little princess from fairytales.”

Rory was flattered.

She smugly ran over to the mirror in the corner of the room and admired herself. She even made a few poses that she thought were cute.

“Zachary, we are stunning! Aunt Nina said that it's because Daddy and Mommy have good genes that we have good looks. When I grow up, I want to find an attractive husband too. If I find someone ugly, then my children will be ugly. I don't want that to happen.”

Rory then lay on the couch and rested her chin on her palm. Shaking her fair legs, she was starting to worry about her future as she thought about it.

Zachary sat next to her and said, “Don't worry, Rory. I'll make sure your future husband suits you. Not only must he be handsome, but he also needs to have a good personality. He needs to get my approval before you can be in a relationship with him, okay?”

“Okay, Zachary. You're such a good brother. Promise me that you'll evaluate the guys I come across in the future! Pinky swear!”
