Cayden froze when he heard that. Despite having handled and overcome all sorts of challenging situations in life, he found himself struggling to deal with this one.

Instead of answering her question, he simply gave her an aggressive and passionate kiss on the lips.

He had been waiting a very long time for this wedding.

Cayden knew that Avery was the one for him ever since he was in his teenage years.

The two had gone through a lot just to get where they were, so he wanted nothing more than to let the world know Avery was his wife.

As such, Cayden could not accept the fact that Avery was still on the fence about marrying him.

He tightened his grip on her and looked into her eyes as he said, “Avery, I am willing to consider postponing our wedding ceremony, but I will not allow you to change your mind about marrying me. I will bring you to the church by force if I have to—”

Cayden paused halfway through his sentence when he noticed her tearing up again. “What has gotten into you lately? Your behavior has been rather off. We're a couple, and we will soon get married. That means we will be going through all the challenges in life together. You need to tell me if something is bothering you, okay? Don't keep it all bottled up inside.”

I know Avery all too well. She loves to keep her problems to herself and would rather bear the burden on her own instead of sharing it with me.

Avery tried her best to keep her eyes open as she forced her tears back.

“Oh, Cayden...” she mumbled while staring at his handsome face.

Cayden couldn't seem to understand why she had been behaving strangely, but he panicked when he saw her start to cry again.

“Don't cry...”

If there was one thing that he feared in the world, it was Avery crying.

Cayden hugged her tightly and tried to kiss the tears off her face, but she couldn't seem to stop crying and ended up sobbing uncontrollably.

All Cayden could do was hold her in his arms and comfort her as though she were a child. After what seemed like forever, her sobs grew softer before stopping completely.

The sounds of their breathing and her sniffling were the only sounds in the bedroom.

Cayden didn't dare move a muscle as he continued to hold her in his arms.

I had assumed that Avery's mood swings were the result of her pregnancy, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. There's definitely more to it than meets the eye. I'll have to conduct a thorough investigation after our engagement ceremony tomorrow. Avery is a sensitive person. If she didn't want to tell me something, she would remain silent even if I were to hold a knife against her throat. I'll need to have my men investigate this in secret. I have to find out who she has been dealing with throughout the past few days!

Avery felt her heart break when she recalled the woman's demands. She couldn't possibly bring herself to reject Cayden and humiliate him in public.

However, she knew that she needed to do so, or the woman would ruin his reputation completely.

Avery couldn't imagine a successful and prideful man like Cayden being locked up in prison.

Seeing as Avery had stopped crying, Cayden lowered his head and gave her a kiss on the lips. “You're going to become my wife soon, so you shouldn't be crying so much anymore. Besides, it's not healthy for a pregnant woman to have such extreme emotions. It'll affect the development of the baby inside your tummy.”

Avery bit down on her lips and gripped his shirt sleeve tightly as she looked up at him and said, “Cayden, I love you very, very much. If I ever do something to wrong you, I need you to understand that I must've had my reasons for doing so. Do not hate me no matter what happens, okay?”

Cayden gently caressed her lips and stared at her earnest expression as he gave it some thought.

“All right,” he said after a brief pause.

He trusted her unconditionally, so he would never blame her regardless of what she did to him.

Avery's eyes began to tear up again when she heard him say that.

Cayden is a caring man who loves and trusts me unconditionally. It pains me deeply to think that I would have to leave him tomorrow, but I have no other choice...

Gold Emerald Hotel was decorated incredibly beautifully with colorful ribbons, and the musical fountain in the middle of the courtyard produced visually stunning patterns synchronized to the elegant music.

Meanwhile, in the dressing room, Cecelia's and Nina's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when they saw Avery in her white wedding gown.

Cecelia cupped her hands around her huge tummy as she walked up to Avery. “Congratulations, Avery! You and Mr. Moore are finally going to get married! You look so beautiful today!”
