The CEO Gets What He Wants

Oblivious to the icy-cold look in Cayden's eyes, Nicole stared dreamily at him as she sat at the dining table.

“Of course! Given how charming you are, I doubt any woman would be able to resist you! I'm sure a man as smart as you would understand how I feel about you. To be honest, I was deeply in love with you the moment I first saw you!” she said shyly.

“I appreciate it that you have feelings for me, Ms. Lambert,” Cayden replied coldly while suppressing the urge to get sarcastic.

He then glanced at his watch and saw that it was almost eight.

Not wanting to keep Avery waiting for too long, he said, “Are you done eating, Ms. Lambert? I do apologize, but I still have some business to attend to. I'll see you next time.”

As much as Nicole didn't want him to leave, she could only nod obediently when she saw the cold look on his face. “All right, then. You can go ahead and leave if you're busy. We can meet again some other time.”

When it comes to relationships, you really can't rush things. If you come onto a man too hard, you'll only stress him out and push him further away.

Cayden then sent Nicole home after that, much to her delight.

Her heart felt like it had been immersed in a jar of honey, and she had a dreamy look in her eyes as she watched Cayden drive.

The moonlight shining through the car windows cast a soft glow over his handsome face, making him seem all the more elegant and graceful.

His face is near perfection! It's so flawless and alluring! I just can't seem to take my eyes off him!

Neither of them said a single word throughout the entire drive.

It wasn't until the car stopped outside the Lambert residence that Nicole realized she was home.

“Thanks for sending me home today. I feel really happy today,” she said with a sweet smile.

“No problem,” Cayden replied coldly, the look in his eyes as mysterious as a dark and bottomless chasm.

After unbuckling her seat belt, Nicole turned around and gave Cayden a quick peck on the cheek before he even realized what was going on.

She then opened the car door, hopped out of the car, and slammed the car door shut behind her.

Nicole cupped her hands on her cheeks, which were burning bright red, as her heart pounded hard against her chest.

I don't know why I became so bold all of a sudden! Maybe it was a combination of the perfect atmosphere and my strong feelings for Cayden. I wonder how he feels about me... It's fine if he still can't forget about Avery just yet. His feelings for her will come to pass over time. When men have difficulties letting go of their exes, it's usually due to one of two reasons. Either they need a little more time to move on, or their new partner isn't good enough. I believe I have plenty of time to spend with Cayden while he gets over her, and I am certainly charming enough to take her place. It's only a matter of time before Cayden opens up to me!

Cayden grabbed a wet wipe and scrubbed at the spot on his cheek where Nicole had kissed him just now. He was so disgusted by her kiss that he even applied some disinfectant to the wet wipe. He was scrubbing so hard that he nearly removed a layer of his skin.

The look in his eyes was terrifyingly cold.

That woman is lucky I still have use for her! Otherwise, I would surely put her through a fate worse than death!

Claire was knitting a sweater on the couch when Nicole came in grinning from ear to ear.

She then tossed her handbag aside and wrapped her arms around Claire's neck. Nicole was in such a good mood that she didn't even change into her slippers after entering the house. “I have good news for you, Mom! I'm going to have a boyfriend soon!”

Claire put the sweater down and turned around in delight. “Really? Where does he work, Nickie? Bring him home when you have the time, okay? I'll help you give him a proper screening!”

Nicole's heart started racing again as she thought about Cayden's handsome face. Not wanting to reveal the truth just yet, she said, “It's still too early for me to bring him home, Mom. Don't worry; I'll be sure to introduce him to you and Dad when the time is right. He's an excellent man, so I am confident that you two will approve of him.”

Claire gave her an affectionate pat on the head and said with a smile, “Trying to be mysterious, are you? Listen, Nickie. A person's personality and attitude matter more than their external traits like appearances and wealth. It's important to make sure that you two get along very well.”

Nicole gave Claire a hug as she replied, “I know, Mom. I assure you, we get along really well. In fact, I don't think I've ever felt this great before! I love him very much!”

Recalling how Nicole had once obsessed over Cayden, Claire asked, “Nickie, that new boyfriend of yours... He's not like Cayden, is he? I know that men like Cayden are excellent, but they're cold-hearted and won't make good lovers. You need to stay away from those types of men. Do you understand?”

Nicole had wanted to tell Claire more about Cayden at first, but she was no longer in the mood after hearing Claire's prejudice against Cayden.

Whatever euphoric joy she had from earlier was instantly destroyed.

“I understand, Mom. I know what I'm doing,” she mumbled resentfully.

Claire felt relieved when she saw Nicole agreeing with her statement.

After all, she loved Nicole deeply and wanted nothing but the best for her.
