Chapter 557 I Am The Husband Of Avery

Hearing Yulissa's accusatory words, the candidates flew into an uproar.

The Certified Professional Constructor was a standardized national certificate, so cheating during the test was strictly prohibited by national regulations. Those caught cheating not only received invalid scores but were also barred from participating in any professional and technical personnel qualification exams for two years.

Serious offenders might even spend time in jail!

The way the invigilators looked at Avery had changed.

Even the other candidates were giving Avery strange looks.

No one knew that the gorgeous pregnant lady would end up cheating during the exam!

The invigilators went to Avery and shot Yulissa a stern look. “What happened?”

Yulissa pointed at Avery and revealed, “Sir, I saw a crumpled piece of paper shoot out of her test paper earlier and land beneath her chair. She must've cheated during the test!”

Yulissa's finger then moved to the bottom of Avery's chair, and a crumpled piece of paper appeared in everyone's sight.

The invigilators furrowed their brows at the sight. One tall and skinny invigilator squatted down to pick up the paper.

When the paper was spread open, Avery felt her heart racing as she was struck dumb.

That's the summary Cayden prepared for me earlier! Why did it suddenly appear in the exam hall? I remember placing my notes and phone in my bag.

Realization dawned upon Avery when she turned over her shoulder to see a malicious grin spreading across Yulissa's lips.

It was clear that Yulissa had brought the paper into the hall, but she couldn't understand why Yulissa would do this.

“Does this paper belong to you?” the invigilator asked Avery sternly.

The invigilators were startled to find that the crumpled paper contained information that closely matched the exam questions, with some being identical to the actual test questions.

As the other candidates' gazes fell upon Avery, she felt a prickling sensation run down her back.

It was natural for Avery to feel nervous. Even though she hadn't cheated, she was bold enough to admit, “Yes, it's mine.”

The invigilators' expressions turned dark. One spoke sternly. “After everyone leaves, please follow us to the office!”

Panic filled Avery's heart.

If I follow them to the office, I'll definitely get investigated. I have nothing to hide, so I'm not afraid at all. But regardless of the outcome, people will surely gossip about me, and public opinion may not be in my favor.

“Sir, I swear I didn't cheat during the exam. The paper might be mine, but I kept it in my bag earlier. I wasn't the one who brought it into the exam hall. My friend can testify for me. Evangeline, we came into the hall together, and you saw me putting the notes into my bag, right?” Avery shot Evangeline a pleading look.

She appeared helpless, and tears threatened to spill from her eyes, eliciting sympathy from the others.

Many male candidates began whispering among themselves, admiring the pregnant lady's determination to take the exam despite her condition. They didn't believe she would cheat.

The matter had nothing to do with her, so Evangeline didn't want to get involved. However, Avery seemed helpless and was on the verge of tears.

Her gaze swept over Avery's branded maternity clothes as she recalled that Avery's husband was powerful enough to assign a driver to give her a ride to the exam hall.

At once, Evangeline made up her mind.

She raised her hand and declared, “Sir, Avery and I came into the exam hall together. Before that, we placed our bags on a desk outside the hall. I can vouch that I saw Avery keeping her phone and notes in her bag.”

Yulissa scowled unhappily when she heard Evangeline's words.

She thought her plan was foolproof and didn't expect someone to botch her plan.

Furious, she declared, “Hey, if Avery kept the notes in her bag, why did this one appear under her chair? Perhaps she has a lot of notes, so you saw her putting the rest of her notes into her bag. When you weren't noticing, she might've slipped one out!”

This time, Evangeline said nothing.

She did see Yulissa tossing the paper underneath Avery's chair but didn't want to reveal the truth.

She didn't want to get dragged into the mess as there was a possibility the matter wouldn't get handled properly.

Both invigilators shared a look. They couldn't possibly remain in a stalemate in the hall and thus continued collecting the answer sheets.

Cheating was a serious offense, so they allowed the other candidates to leave while Avery and Yulissa were told to stay behind.

Avery noticed her answer sheet was placed on the very top with a huge “X” red mark on it.
