Chapter 14
Chapter 14
“You st***d b**h! How dare you lay a hand on me?” Brandon growled furiously as he clutched at his burning cheek.
He leapt forward, obviously ready to bounce and attack her, but before he could get to her, Thalassa picked up the knife on the kitchen counter, aiming at him.
“Don’t you dare take another step forward, or I won’t be blamed for what I will do. If you think I’m some weak b**ch who can’t defend herself, then think again.” She warned furiously.
Her breathing had become ragged, and her body was shaking from sheer anger and adrenaline as she remembered the night she was attacked. Tears burned her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. If she had been able to defend herself that night, then her unborn child wouldn’t have been killed..
She was never going to allow herself to be that defenseless woman again.
“You’re going to regret this, you s*d woman.” Brandon gritted out, but he didn’t dare take another step forward.
Suddenly, the sound of approaching footsteps could be heard. Thalassa lowered the knife just a few seconds before Luisa entered the kitchen, a wide smile on her face.
“Hey, what’s up?” She paused, frowning, when neither of them responded. “Is something wrong?”
“Babe, you’re back already?” Brandon quickly deflected the conversation, moving towards Luisa to plant a rather passionate kiss on her lips.
“Hmm, what was that for?” Luisa said, a dreamy smile on her face. Her eyes displayed just how infatuated she was with the man, and Thalassa pitied her.
“Well, Zeke sent me back early because he had somewhere to go, and he didn’t think it was fair that Thalassa was forced to handle everything at home.” She turned to Thalassa. “Thalassa, let me help you with lunch.”

“Oh, it’s fine. I can handle it; don’t worry.” Thalassa replied, dragging in a deep breath to calm herself down as she placed the knife back down and stepped towards the stove.
“No, please let me help you. I don’t want Zeke to get annoyed with me.” Luisa insisted in an amused tone.
Brandon panicked. If he left Luisa alone with Thalassa, then she was sure to tell her what happened. He
could slow it down.
“Oh, come on, babe. She said she could handle it. Let’s take the time all to ourselves.” He said, and without waiting for her to protest, he dragged her out of the kitchen.
Before they disappeared, Thalassa didn’t miss the dark look Brandon gave her, and she gave him a dark
look of her own.
Once they were gone, she forced herself to calm down and continue cooking. An hour later, after she was done, she realized that the dishes, plates, and cutlery were a bit much. She needed help setting the table so that things would be quick.
Stepping out of the kitchen, she headed to the living room, spotting Luisa and Brandon. The ba**rd was glaring at Thalassa, but she didn’t acknowledge him as she focused on Luisa.

“Hey, Luisa, I could use that help now in setting the table,” she said, flashing a small smile.
To her surprise, Luisa didn’t smile back as usual. Her face was straight, her eyes devoid of emotion, as she responded curtly, “Okay.”
Getting up, she walked past Thalassa without even looking at her face. Frowning with confusion, Thalassa followed her into the kitchen.
The last time Thalassa cooked, Luisa hilariously exclaimed how wonderful the food smelled, but this time she was silent. Not a word was said between them as they transported the dishes and the cutlery to the dining table.
“I’m going to check if Granny is awake now so she can come for lunch.” Thalassa said, but just as she was about to go, Luisa stepped in front of her.
I’ll go get her myself. After all, she is my grandmother, not yours.”
Thalassa stiffened as she watched her go. Why was Luisa being so cute with her? Now she was left alone with Brandon at the dining table. Turning, she realized that he had a smirk on his face, and her eyes narrowed suspiciously.
He was obviously the reason why Luisa was being so rude to her. Just what had he told Luisa?
“If you know what’s good for you, then you will keep your mouth shut about what happened in the kitchen.” He warned.
Thalassa merely stared at him, not feeling him worthy of a reply.
A minute later, Luisa walked out with Granny, and they all sat down to eat.
