Chapter 158

Chapter 158

Later that night, Kris was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling Alden had dropped him off about two hours ago after they'd gone to the hospital to have his wound restitched, but sleep had been playing hide and seek with him. Couple that with his freshly aching shoulder and the fact that he missed Thalassa like hell.

It was funny. Thalassa's room was two doors away from his but despite the distance, when she was home, he could always feel her presence, which gave him some comfort.

But tonight, knowing she wasn't in her room, he felt so damn lonely. Was she thinking about him? Did she miss him as much as he missed her?

After tossing and turning for another hour, a thought occurred to him.

It was reckless-something he knew would piss Thalassa off if she found out. But he couldn't help himself.

Before he could talk himself out of it, Kris pushed back the covers and climbed out of bed. Stepping out of his room, he moved until he reached the door to Thalassa's room. Placing his hand on the doorknob, he hesitated for a moment. Then, slowly, he turned it and stepped inside.

Her room was dark, illuminated only by the soft glow of moonlight streaming in through the curtains.

Kris moved toward the bed, and after tossing his phone onto the nightstand, he slowly lowered himself onto the mattress. As soon as his face hit the pillow, her scent infused his senses. Everything in the room smelled like her- soft, floral, intoxicating. He cradled the pillow close to him, burying his face in it. Since he couldn't have her this close, he would make do with this for now.

In his room, he hadn't been able to sleep a wink, but here, enveloped by her scent, sleep finally welcomed him.

The next morning, Kris was jolted awake by the shrill sound of his phone ringing. Groggily, he blinked his eyes open and glanced at the screen. He tensed when he saw the name flashing across it.
