Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Kris's heart raced in his chest as jealousy seared through him, his mind reeling with questions. Who was she talking to?

As if dealing with Zeke Mathews wasn't bad enough, now he had to contend with whoever this Alex was.

Still peeking, he noticed the smile on Thalassa's face even after she ended the call and tossed her phone on the bed. It was a smile much bigger than the one he had ever seen her flash at Zeke.

The blood in his veins pulsing with envy, Kris nearly stepped out to demand for answers, but he knew that would be a stupid move, so he stayed put and continued observing her.

Finally, she headed into her walk-in closet, the door closing behind her but not completely. Kris saw his moment to sneak out.

Gently opening the balcony door, he stepped into the room, but he paused when he saw her phone still on the bed, the screen lit up-unlocked.

His feet and hands itched to pick it up and check the number she had been on a call with. It took every ounce of restraint to resist the temptation, knowing that would give Thalassa even more reason to be upset with him. Forcing himself to move, he quickly headed to the door and quietly slipped out of the room. As he moved down the hallway, he spotted Luisa approaching him.

"There you are!" she exclaimed with a slight smile. "I came to your room, but you weren't there."

"Erm... I... I went to get a glass of water in the kitchen," Kris stammered out a lie.

Luisa furrowed her brows but didn't press further. "I almost went straight to the office from Zeke's, but I remembered you were here and wanted to check if you needed anything."

Kris flashed her a small smile even though smiling was the last thing he felt like doing. "That's very sweet of you."

"How's your shoulder?" she asked with concern. "Thalassa told me your stitches got ripped last night and you had to go to the hospital to have the wound restitched."

"It feels a lot better now," Kris admitted, surprised by how much better he felt.

in Thalassa's bed had given him the best sleep he'd had in a while, and his shoulder hurt far less than it had the night before. His mother hadn't called, he would probably still be asleep and Thalassa would've caught him. "I'm glad to hear that," Luisa
