Sierra glanced down at the shadow on the ground and froze. There was no way to talk her way out of this–Zada had seen everything.

At this point, there was no use pretending anymore. Her fake smile vanished, and her face darkened. “Well,” since you already know the truth, there’s nothing left for me to say.”

Zada stared at Sierra, hurt and confused. “Why are you doing this? I thought we were best friends!”

“Best friends?” Sierra snapped. “You really think of me that way? All you ever cared about was Halsey! Every time she and I argued, you took her side without a second thought. You were never really with me!”

Zada’s anger flared. “I can’t believe that’s what you think! You honestly think I never supported you?”

Sierra shot back, “You never did! When the rumors about me and Mr. Lane started spreading, you told me to clear things up with the press for Halsey’s sake!”

Zada let out a bitter laugh. “Do you even hear yourself right now? I told you to deny it because I know Mr. Lane- he’s not that kind of man. He’s not interested in you, and he wouldn’t ever go after you like that.”
