Sophie thought, "Nonus... He's here! They've come to rescue me! Finally! That wretched little batch-Eliza's time is up.

Sophie could barely contain her joy. If Eliza wasn't still hovering over her, she would've thrown herself toward the sound of Nomis's voice, tears of relief streaming down her face.

Eliza ignored him completely, turning instead to Nonus's dark gaze with a thin smile. "Well, maybe if you hadn't taken so long to show up, she'd still be in better shape. Actually, if you'd been even one day later... all you'd find here would be Sophies corpse."

The threat was clear. Brutally so.
