The Omega: Mated To The Four

Chapter Thirty Eight

I stopped running when I reached the clearing, my breath ragged as my glowing

fur dimmed faintly. My thoughts were a chaotic whirlwind, each one more suffocating than the last.

Mariah's revelation echoed in my mind.

"He was your father... your mother ended her life..."

I sank to the ground, my massive paws sinking into the soft earth as tried to process the revelation. How was I supposed to forgive her? Could I even try? And what did this all mean for me? For my destiny?

The woods were eerily silent, the usual symphony of crickets and rustling leaves absent. It was as if the forest itself was holding its breath.

Then I felt it.

The air shifted, growing heavy and oppressive. The light from my glowing fur flickered faintly, like a dying candle, as an unnatural darkness began to creep into the clearing. It wasn't like a normal shadow. This darkness was alive, swirling and writhing like a living entity. It absorbed every sliver of light around it, creating a void that made the glowing edges of my fur stand out in stark

contrast.

A sense of dread crept over me, seeping into my bones. My ears flattened, and my tail tucked instinctively as the darkness stopped just at the edge of my glow. It didn't cross the boundary, as if it couldn't-or wouldn't.

Then, I heard it.

A laugh.
