Chapter 1937 Watch Out

Ian had called Aurora beforehand to let her know what time they would be reaching home. The moment the couple walked in, Aurora hurried over to greet them. “How was it? Did it go well? Did Cindy’s mother agree for you guys to be together?”

Hazel hadn’t rejected the idea from the start, and she seemed increasingly nicer to Ian as the days went by. In fact, Hazel got so nice to a point where Ian felt flustered. He couldn’t stop wondering what he had done to make Hazel change her attitude toward him. He had asked Cindy about this, but Cindy didn’t give him much of an answer.

Cindy couldn’t bring herself to tell him the truth—she couldn’t tell Ian that her mother’s attitude toward him showed such a drastic change just because he was rich. She’d be too embarrassed to say such a thing. “It’s all good. It went well,” Ian uttered in the end.

Aurora urged them to have a meal, but Cindy didn’t have an appetite after the long and tiring trip. “I’d like to rest for a while. My whole body’s aching,” Cindy mumbled as she waved her hand. Ian was just as tired, and he stretched his neck as he spoke. “I’ll go take a shower and eat in a while. I don’t have much of an appetite because I’m tired as well.”

Aurora sighed. “I’ll leave the dishes in the pot to keep it warm. You guys can eat whenever you want to.”

After that, Ian went to his room to shower. Since he was occupying the room, Cindy chose to lie on the couch instead of going back into the room. When Aurora saw Cindy outside, she walked over to sit beside Cindy. “How are things at home?” she asked curiously. “I gave Ian a call a while ago, and he said that things were good. He even said that I should go with him someday.”

Cindy let out a helpless laugh. “He’s always focusing on the positives in others. I’ve lived there for years, but I don’t think there’s anything great about the place.” Sure, there might be nice food stalls, but I don’t think anything else about the place is attractive. The only thing this trip made me feel was tired. I didn’t feel happy seeing my relatives, and I didn’t feel the sorrow of parting ways. To me, this was just a waste of time and energy.

Cindy had always been somewhat of a taciturn and bland person. She knew that it wasn’t ideal, but she couldn’t change who she was. Aurora continued to sit and chit-chat with Cindy until Ian came out of the shower. He put on a set of pajamas before walking out at a slow pace.

He might not have said anything, but Aurora knew that he was looking for Cindy. Both of them are so affectionate to one another all the time… I guess that’s how it’s like when youngsters first fall in love. Aurora was an alert and thoughtful woman, and she quickly stood up when Ian came over. “The food is in the pot, and you guys can have it when you’re hungry. I’ll head off now. You guys can get some rest.”

Ian’s hair was still wet from the shower. He sent Aurora to the door, and she had only taken a few steps before she turned around again. She looked at Ian hesitantly before lowering her voice. “Watch out,” she whispered.

These words came out of nowhere and the regular person wouldn’t have understood anything, but Ian understood what she meant the moment he looked at Aurora’s face. He didn’t seem too embarrassed by her words, for he simply responded with a smile. “Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing.”
