The Gordon family had a tradition of gathering for a meal once a month. Cyrus felt annoyed, having forgotten about this occasion.

Nancy glanced at Cyrus, her heart tinged with disdain and a cold detachment.

His mind was elsewhere. No wonder he forgot.

Nancy replied softly, "Cyrus and I will be back soon, Wilma."

Despite Cyrus' change of heart, Nancy's mother-in-law had always been good to her.

"Okay, dear. Be careful on your way back," Wilma's loving voice sounded as she hung up the phone. Cyrus quickly grabbed the car keys, clearing his throat, "Nancy, let's head back for dinner."

Nancy nodded slightly, stepping outside.

Cyrus watched as Nancy walked away, pursing his lips. Well, he had tried to make amends. If she was willing to listen, great. If not, so be it. After all, he had never gone to such lengths for Hayley.
