After ending the call, Hannah pondered briefly before dialing Pierson’s number.

The phone rang several times before someone answered.

The man’s voice was gentle as he said, “Hello, may I know who is calling?”

This was Hannah’s new number; she had never used it to call Pierson before.

She had assumed he might not pick up the call, planning to reach him through an app if that happened.

But, to her surprise, he picked up.

“It’s me.

I’m…”

They hadn’t contacted each other in a long time.

Before she could finish, Pierson interrupted with a joyful surprise in his voice, “Hannah! It’s you! It’s been a while since we last talked.

I remember asking you about participating in a film project, and you didn’t reply.

I worried I might have upset you.
