After ending the call, Hannah pondered briefly before dialing Pierson’s number.

The phone rang several times before someone answered.

The man’s voice was gentle as he said, “Hello, may I know who is calling?”

This was Hannah’s new number; she had never used it to call Pierson before.

But, to her surprise, he picked up.

“It’s me.

I’m…”

They hadn’t contacted each other in a long time.

I remember asking you about participating in a film project, and you didn’t reply.

I worried I might have upset you.
