Chapter 24 God of War
Skylar took a closer look at Brian and thought of why Brian treated him differently from before.
Looking at everyone’s shocked expression, he nodded and said, “Mom, dad, I still have something to do here, so I decided to drop by.”
“I’m glad to see everyone’s still doing well. Carry on with your meals, Uncle and Aunts. I’m heading back now.”
“You’re leaving now? How can this be? You haven’t been home for six years and you’re leaving? At least stay for the night!” Nathaniel quickly took Skylar’s hand and said.
Skylar took the opportunity to hug him. Then said, “Dad, I’ll be staying here for a long time for this mission.”
“Alright. I know your task is important but it will be Naomi’s wedding in two days. Will you be able to attend the wedding ceremony?” Nathaniel asked.
“Naomi’s my sister, of course, I’ll make time to attend the wedding!” Skylar looked at Naomi and smiled.
For some reason, Naomi sat at the table blankly without any response.
“Oh, alright, Naomi, don’t be in the way of Skylar’s duties!” Winona answered quickly to avoid the situation from getting awkward.
“Okay, I’ll take him downstairs.” Nathaniel happily dragged Skylar away.
After they left, everyone turned their attention toward Brian who was sitting in the main seat.
“Mr. Stephenson, you seem to be afraid of Skylar. Wasn’t he just a soldier? I’ve never heard of him doing something great.”
“Does he have a secret identity?”

“I don’t think so. He joined the army before he finished high school. He’s only 25 this year. How could he have accomplished that much?”
Brian shook his head blankly. “I don’t know either…”
“How could you not know?”
Naomi was a little surprised.
Brian kept shaking his head no matter what kind of questions they asked about Skylar.
Thinking about the scene that happened at the entrance of the mall, it was where Brian first met Skylar. Brian was hostile toward Skylar. But Skylar told her to leave them alone and said something to Brian.
Was it possible that Skylar threatened Brian?
It could be possible.
When Naomi thought about it this way, she was no longer confused.
Downstairs, Nathaniel lit a cigarette and said slowly, “Skylar, I hope the marriage between Naomi and Brian didn’t shock you…”
Skylar quickly waved his hand and said, “Don’t blame yourself, dad. I was the one who lost contact with you guys after all. Of course, Naomi has the right to pursue happiness.”
“Plus, I grew up with her. She’ll always be a sister in y heart and I don’t have any romantic feelings for her.”
“I’m already happy that she can live a good life from now on.”
After listening to Skylar’s sincere words, Nathaniel heaved a sigh of relief. “I don’t need to worry about it then.”
Both of them chatted for a while and talked about why he had not contacted his family for the past five years.
Skylar told Nathaniel that he was involved in the state secrets and could not reveal anything to anyone. Even his existence.
Nathaniel felt a sense of pride and relief at the same time.
Wasn’t that something to be proud of that your son was able to contribute to the nation’s security?
“Skylar, have you heard of the Dragon King in the north, who was the first God of War of the Nine Continents?” Nathaniel lowered his volume and asked mysteriously.
Skylar held back his laughter and said, “Where did you get this news from, dad? If there was a Dragon King in the north, why haven’t I heard of it?”
“What even is the first God of War of the Nine Continents? That’s nonsense!”
“Really? Rufus must have lied to me. That’s not right… His son is serving in the Northwest, and he’s also coming back this year…”
Nathaniel was puzzled.
“That’s just a legend, and you took them seriously?” Skylar laughed.
“I’m sure that Rufus is lying! His son used to laze around all day long. So why would he leave the army after being enlisted in the first place?”
