Chapter 257

Angie smiled. "I'll ask my sister-in-law about it. I haven't heard of it before."

Gwen could hear that her cousin was waiting to watch a good show as well. She didn't believe that the Selwyns would accept Patricia. After the call ended, she returned to the living room.

Presently, Patricia was seated beside Hendrick, who still treated her as well as he used to. With the kids around, he didn't seem to hold any grudges against Patricia anymore. Meanwhile, Zachary was just beside them. He had given Hendrick a bottle of expensive wine, and the latter loved it. While Hendrick examined the bottle of wine, Zachary explained a little about the gift.

When Gwen saw that the other Anistons were ignored, she was amused. As she had expected, the other Anistons would lose Hendrick's favor whenever Patricia returned. "Dinner is ready, Dad. Let's come together now."

All of them entered the spacious dining room. Patricia, Zachary, and the kids were seated beside Hendrick. There were also the men at the table while the ladies stayed away from Hendrick and seated at another table.

Hendrick had high hopes for Zachary, who was known to be a promising young man in Appleby. The older folks in the city knew he was a hardworking man. Zachary had several rounds of drinks with Hendrick. After dinner, the kids played with Hendrick for a while before heading home.

At this moment, Zachary was walking beside Patricia. There was a smile that was as bright as the sun on his face, so there was no doubt that he was in a jolly mood.

The Anistons didn't see them off, for Zachary had arranged a sedan car to send them home. After the kids got into the car, Patricia and Zachary had a chat beside the vehicle.

"Thank you for everything, Zachary."

If not for the man's presence, it would've been awkward for the kids to face Hendrick and the other Anistons on this day. Patricia's relatives would've still called the kids all sorts of nasty names. Just now, they had kept their mouths shut, and Hendrick had acknowledged them to be his great-grandchildren. Everything went well, and Patricia was grateful to the man.

Zachary extended his hand and tucked her hair behind her ears. "You don't have to thank me. I should've visited Old Mr. Aniston sooner."

If he had taken the initiative earlier, Patricia would've married him. Now, he regretted that he hadn't done so sooner. Knowing that Zachary had misunderstood something, Patricia frowned. "You're not the kids' father, Zachary. I'll explain it to everyone in the future."

Zachary looked her in the eye. "It's cold here. Get in the car. I'm willing to be the kids' father, and I don't think you doubt it."

He was by Patricia's side when she was pregnant, and he had watched the kids grow up. Even though he wasn't their father, he could be considered their father figure.

Certainly, Patricia never doubted it. She got into the car, followed by Zachary.

Just then, a butler of the Aniston Family, Mr. Wallace, ran over. "These are Old Mr. Aniston's gifts to the kids, Miss Patricia."

Three paper bags were held out in front of Patricia through the window. Although she had no idea what was inside the bags, she had to take them as those bags were Hendrick's gifts.

"Please thank my grandfather on my behalf, Mr. Wallace." She took the paper bags and held them in his arms. Hendrick was happy tonight, and the grudges between them had been resolved.
