Chapter 34

Chapter 34.

Nelly’s POV.

In front of me was a picturesque cottage, a riot of flowers spilling over the windowsills, the scent of roses and jasmine heavy in the air. On the table was a feast of sumptuous food, the aroma of fresh bread, roasted meat, and stewed fruit wafting towards me.

I stood there, mouth agape, unable to comprehend what I was seeing. Alpha Kex, ever the gentleman, reached out and gently closed my mouth.

“Don’t let the flies in, my dear,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“Did you do this for us?” I stuttered, my mind whirling with questions.

I had never seen such a romantic gesture before, and I was awed by the lengths he had gone to make this happen.

“I wouldn’t have come this far if it wasn’t for you,” he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

I continued to look at him, my mind still racing. “How on earth did you plan something like this? I thought you were angry at me?” I asked, trying to comprehend how he had made all of this happen.

“Who says I’m not still angry with you?” he said, a chuckle in his voice. His tone was teasing, and I couldn’t help but smile in response.

It seemed he was not as angry as I had anticipated. Perhaps there was hope for us yet. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss, that there was more to this than met the eye.

“The food might get cold,” he said, his words breaking the tension in the air.

We entered the cottage, and he set my bag down near the door. I sat by the fireplace, warming myself by the flames. I looked around the room, taking in the details of the place.

The furniture was simple but elegant, the floorboards worn but polished. It was clear that someone had taken care of this place, and had made it a home.
