Right Person, Wrong Time

Chapter 684

While pulling Zachary away, Harvey quickly glanced at Nicole and noticed that she had a peculiar look on her face. He was taken aback for a moment before blurting, "Nicole, weren't you drugged as well? Why don't you two just get it over and done with? Perhaps that might help."

The moment his words fell, a pillow landed on his face.

"Get lost!" she growled in a hoarse voice, her eyes brimming with anger.

Harvey realized he had said something wrong, so he quickly nodded and apologized to her, "Alright, alright. I'm leaving now."

After speaking, he wanted to leave while carrying Zachary on his shoulders, but an idea suddenly popped into his mind, so Harvey turned to look at Nicole. Since she had stayed in the room for quite some time, she had likely inhaled some of the drugs.

"Why don't you come with me? I'll make an antidote so you can also take it."

She shook her head, and her gaze landed on Zachary's face. She felt uncomfortable at the thought of what had happened earlier, even though she knew he couldn't control himself.

"Just go ahead. I'm a doctor too. I'll take care of myself."

Without saying another word, Harvey carried Zachary out of the room.

After Harvey and Zachary left, she was sluggish on the bed. The scent in the room had significantly diminished after the door was opened. Reaching up to touch her forehead, she realized there was a layer of sweat she didn't notice earlier. It took her a while to gather herself before she staggered to the door.

Someone must have plotted against her today!

After taking a few steps out the door, Nicole abruptly felt a surge of warmth pooling within her body. D*mn it! She had thought the drug's effects would subside once she left the room, but they had worsened!

She clenched her hands into fists and allowed her long nails to stab into her palms. The tingling sensation from her palm made her sober up a little. Stumbling to the room next door, she looked for the bathroom and sprayed cold water on her face. Only then did the warm feeling subside a little. Leaning against the wall, she reached up to rub her temples. Who could have plotted against her?

Zachary had always admired Nicole, and she had been working with him for nearly five years. However, if the initiator wanted to embarrass her, they wouldn't have to go to such lengths and even drag him into this mess. That person must be someone who knew about their relationship. The reason why they did this was to make Colton misunderstand her! If Colton knew Zachary liked her, and if something happened between Zachary and her—It would've been a perfect plan!

She closed her eyes and gulped, thinking the initiator might be someone meticulous. This time, she was caught in a much more elaborate trap because the person who set it was familiar with both her and Zachary, and as a result, she lacked any defensive instinct.
