However, when Nicole remembered her son's pitiful expression, she could only grit her teeth and make the call. Zachary seemed to have sensed Nicole's predicament, so he comforted her in a warm voice. "Nicole, even though there are some deep grudges between you and the Gardner Family, Hayden is innocent. He's still young, so it's normal for him to want his parents by his side."

Nicole blinked, then turned to look at Zachary. There wasn't a tiny hint of anger on the latter's gentle face, and he looked very calm.

For an unknown reason, Nicole began to feel her eyes heating up with tears. She realized that no matter when it was, Zachary had always taken her side. But she also knew that even though she did have a liking for Zachary, that liking had nothing to do with romance.

Nicole lowered her gaze. If she hadn't had Hayden, or if she hadn't met Colton… She might be dating Zachary already.

A bitter smile appeared on Nicole's face as she nodded. "Thank you, Zach."

A faint smile slowly bloomed on Zachary's lips. He didn't say more as he turned around and went upstairs straightaway.

There was a look of disappointment in Nicole's eyes as she pursed her lips, not saying anything in the end. In the afternoon, Hayden mentioned the amusement park to her again. Unable to decline, Nicole finally made a call to Colton.

Colton wasn't too surprised when he received Nicole's call. With a lazy tone, he asked, "What's up? You just said we'd never cross paths in the future, right? But you're already calling me now?"

Nicole didn't expect Colton to remember it so clearly. For an instant, her ears turned red. She coughed lightly and mumbled, "Do you have time tomorrow?"

Colton's voice was hoarse as he chuckled in a low and alluring sound. When Nicole heard it, she felt her heart skip a beat. After chuckling for a bit, he intoned, "If you're asking me out, yes, I'm free. What's the matter? It's only been some time since we last met, but you're missing me already."

Faced with Colton's teasing, Nicole didn't have much of an expression on her face. She lightly bit her lip, and after a while, she lowered her gaze and explained, "Hayden wants us to bring him to the amusement park."

Nicole feared that Colton would decline, so she quickly added, "Since you've taken on the title of Hayden's father, you can't say no to spending time with your son, can you?"

Colton suppressed his voice as he answered, "I wasn't thinking of declining. My son wants to go out and play, so of course, I have time for that. What time are we going tomorrow?"

Nicole was a little surprised. She had expected Colton to ask for a favor, but she never thought that he would agree so readily.

"9.00AM."

Colton responded, "All right. There's Disneyland in the city center. I'll go to your house to pick you up at 9.00AM."

"It's okay. We'll just meet up at Disneyland's entrance at 9.00AM." Nicole hastily declined his offer. She was living in Zachary's villa, after all. Ever since his return, he had been living here. Some time ago, she had been staying at the hospital to take care of Betty.

After Betty was taken away by the medical team, she went back home. Now, she realized too late that she was living under the same roof as Zachary.

Fortunately, Zachary wasn't as perverted as Colton, so things had been orderly and proper between them.

However, if Colton found out about this, he might make a fuss. Colton didn't say much as he responded in a low voice, then hung up. Looking at her phone, Nicole allowed an unknown disappointment to flash across her eyes.

However, the disappointment dissipated quickly. Gripping her phone, she began to walk inside. She would never have any relationship with Colton again. She was doing this solely for Hayden's sake.
