Chapter 854

Olivia's expression began to turn dark when she saw how Colton treated her like an outsider.

Lifting her head to look at him, she continued, "You can't absolve yourself of the fact that Miss Wrenn did that because of you. However, as your aunt, I don't want to interfere too much. As long as you can guarantee that the business of the two families will not be affected, I will leave it to you to make the decision."

After she said that, she stood up and looked at Colton with a humorless smile. "You think of me as an outsider, anyway. I can't tell you what to do."

She then stepped out wearing her high-heeled shoes.

Only three members of the family were left now.

Anna stepped forward and held Colton by the hand and gently persuaded him, "Take a seat, Colton. This isn't something that can be solved by having a simple discussion."

As he looked at her, he finally refrained from being hostile and quietly sat between Benjamin and Anna.

Benjamin looked exhausted and he waited a long minute before he stated in a tired and low voice, "I rushed to the hospital when I got the call this morning. I saw how deep the wound was. Evelyn might not be alive if she had lost more blood. That's why I called you here today."

Colton only replied after a while. "I didn't touch her, and I wasn't the one who took off her clothes. She got into my bed on her own."

Benjamin knew that there was no reason for Colton to lie to him. However, what everyone could see contradicted Colton's words.

"Even though I believe you, others don't. What you're saying only comes from you alone. This has already caused an uproar on the Internet."

The Internet?

Colton was somewhat puzzled. Jackson already stopped this incident immediately after it happened, so how did it get online?

Seeing the confusion on his face, Benjamin explained, "It was a servant from the Gould Family. They've already been fired, but it's too late to stop the news from spreading."

Seems like I'll have to bite the bullet and marry Evelyn, Colton thought as a cold smile spread across his face. His tone was icy cold when he replied, "I understand."

Benjamin didn't pressure him into anything. After thinking for a few moments, he added, "I know that you have feelings for Nicole, but considering how Evelyn went through all that because she couldn't handle the pressure from how heated things are on the Internet, it will be in your hands if you don't marry her. Colton, your grandfather and Edward are good friends. For something like this to happen to Evelyn…"

Benjamin didn't finish his sentence, but Colton knew what he was trying to say.

He had to deal with the pressure from both the heated discussions on the Internet and Evelyn's theatrics.
