Right Person, Wrong Time

Chapter 855

Anna, who had readied herself to deal with Colton's stubborn rejection, was surprised by his sudden agreement.

Colton agreed to marry Evelyn!

She gingerly raised her chin to look at him. After a while, she asked in a soft voice, "Colton… Are you sick?"

She knew her son all too well. There was no way he would settle with a compromise just like that.

Colton pursed his lips and answered in an equally light voice, "I'm not. I was just thinking how Grandpa's right. I can't ignore Evelyn after she did all that because of me. If marrying me is what she wants, marrying me is what she gets."

Anna was at a loss for words upon hearing that. She couldn't help feeling skeptical to see her son agreeing to it.

Looking at him with concerned eyes, she pursed her lips before asking, "You don't have to force yourself, Colton. I won't force you to marry her if you don't want to."

Colton knew what she was thinking when she saw the worry on her face. "Don't worry, Mom." He let out a small smile. "I won't go back on my word. I did agree to it, after all. You and Mrs. Gould should discuss the details of the wedding. I'll check on Evelyn at the hospital."

He was currently so calm it was terrifying. His voice held no emotion as he spoke.

After saying that, he turned around and walked out of the house.

Anna wanted to stop him as she watched his retreating figure. However, she stopped herself from saying anything as she turned to Benjamin and whispered, "What's going to happen now?"

Benjamin pondered with his gaze lowered. "Colton made the decision himself. Let him handle it. Dad can't handle more surprises with his current condition. This might be the best result after all."

Still, Anna was not satisfied with the outcome. With a frown, she probed, "What about Nicole and Hayden? Are we going to throw them aside just like that?"

Anna liked Hayden a lot. In fact, Nicole might have long been with Colton if it weren't for William.

"Let's put this matter to an end," Benjamin concluded in a low voice. "Colton chose Evelyn. We don't have to worry about it anymore. We can help Nicole if she has financial needs. Let's just forget about everything else."

Anna knew that the current Gardner Family didn't have the best of opinions about Nicole. She wanted to say something, but her words felt like they were blocking her throat. In the end, she couldn't say anything.

Eventually, Anna shook her head and turned around to leave without saying anything else.

After Colton left the Gardner Residence, he went directly to the hospital, which location he had already gotten from Gabriel.

When he went into the ward, he saw that Evelyn's bed was surrounded by a group of people.
