Right Person, Wrong Time

Chapter 861

Nicole then drove herself to Colton's house.

His house was in the city, which was a villa close to his company. Though Nicole had been there, the thought of her being alone with Colton made her feel rather awkward.

Looking at the magnificent villa in front of her, she couldn't help but wonder in her heart, What's the point of buying such a large villa when he's staying alone?

Despite her inner musings, she obediently walked in.

The main door was unlocked, and a small side door was open, as if ready for her to enter. She then pushed open the door and entered. After passing through a small garden in the yard, she reached the inner door.

This door wasn't locked either and Nicole could open it with just a simple push. Behind the door was a large living room, which she scanned but found no one in.

Just as she was about to pull out her phone and call Colton, he appeared by the staircase.

He appeared to have just gotten out of the bath as he was dressed casually in a dark blue robe that was slightly open, exposing his well-built muscles.

The straps on his waist appeared to be about to fall off as well, causing Nicole to be unable to take her eyes off them.

With her brows furrowed, she quickly averted her gaze and said coldly, "President Gardner, perhaps you should dress properly before we have a serious talk."

Colton, on the other hand, chuckled at Nicole's shy demeanor. With his hand on the railing, he lightly tapped his slender fingers and said, "I'm in my own home and I'm free to wear whatever I want. Furthermore, haven't you seen everything before?"

His tone was teasing, and he even raised his brows and looked at Nicole while speaking.

I have to put up with this! Nicole told herself. With that, she put on a half-hearted smile and responded, "Sure. Please come down then, President Gardner."

Colton drew his hand back and touched his chin as he murmured in an annoying tone, "I just took my bath and don't want to go downstairs. Come to my room if you want to talk about anything."

Nicole truly found his frivolous tone irritating.

With a grim expression, she clenched her fists and raised her head to look at him as she growled, "President Gardner, I am not joking around with you!"

"Neither am I," Colton replied softly, his smile still intact.

He then turned around and walked upstairs, saying, "You know where my room is. I'll only be waiting for you for five minutes. After that, I'm going to bed and I won't talk to you then."

Nicole knew Colton was playing a trick on her when he left without hesitation, but she had no choice but to oblige. She wouldn't be at ease unless she talked about Hayden's matter with Colton.

With this in mind, she pursed her lips and started to ascend the stairs.

The large staircase was made of solid wood and had a brightly painted surface. Even though she was wearing flat shoes, a crisp sound echoed when she stepped on them.
