Right Person, Wrong Time

Chapter 862

That made Colton grin and his joy was visible all over his face. "Why? Are you jealous that Evelyn and I are getting married?" he looked at Nicole and asked smilingly.

While speaking, he stood up and began strolling toward Nicole, appearing to be in a good mood.

Then, he stopped only when he was standing before her. As Nicole wasn't wearing high heels, he was one head taller than her.

He had just taken his bath and the fragrance of the body shampoo was still lingering on his skin. Furthermore, the pajamas he was wearing appeared to be intentionally undressed, exposing his fair skin. It was as if tempting one to reach out and touch it.

Nicole quickly took a step back and denied, "I'm not."

She took a few moments to collect herself before raising her head to look at Colton, who was right in front of her. "I have no opinion on whom you are marrying, but don't implicate Hayden," she muttered. "Hayden's news is already making the rounds on the Internet. I hope that you can—"

Before she could finish her words, Colton interrupted, "It is true that Hayden is my son. There's nothing to explain." He spoke matter-of-factly. After finishing his sentence, he turned around and walked back to his bed, thereafter sitting on it.

Nicole was rendered speechless. Hayden was Colton's son, but she was the one who raised the boy single-handedly for all these years. Her relationship with Colton was only for that one night!

After calming herself down again, she said, "President Gardner, after you marry Miss Wrenn, you will have your own children. With both of your families' strong financial backgrounds, you can have as many children as you want. Please let Hayden go."

Colton's expression became increasingly dark as he heard Nicole's words. His deep gaze revealed a tinge of danger when he looked at Nicole and replied, "What exactly do you mean by letting Hayden go? Nicole, Hayden is my son. It's not even an issue for me to publicly acknowledge him."

"You can't do that!" Nicole exclaimed, her voice trembling. "Evelyn will never allow Hayden to be near you."

Based on Nicole's understanding of Evelyn, she knew the woman would surely find a way to get rid of Hayden if he entered the Gardner Family.

Sensing her panic, Nicole closed her eyes. Lowering her voice, she continued, "I was the one who raised Hayden and I can take care of him as well. Since you are getting married to Miss Wrenn, we shall just cut our ties. Don't worry. Once Betty's condition improves, I will leave the country with them and will never disturb your life with Miss Wrenn."

When she was speaking, Colton's expression became increasingly grim. Before she could react, he suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer to him.

That made her unstable and caused her to fall into his arms.

His scent immediately filled her nose. Nicole struggled to get up out of reflex, but Colton had her hands tightly clasped within his.
