Chapter 952 Checking the Surveillance Footage


Nicole lowered her gaze. I don't buy it. Evelyn can't have become a nicer person all of a sudden. Narrowing her eyes, she tilted her head to look at Colton before asking, "Do you think Evelyn has tried to avoid arousing suspicion in this matter by going on a vacation at the exact same moment?"

Colton put a hand on Nicole's shoulder when he saw the doubt on her face. He chuckled before adding, "It's possible."

He believes every word I say. She sat upright and asked, "Don't you think I'm slandering her?"

"I don't. I believe your judgment," he answered.

Nicole kept quiet about it. After pondering for a moment, she continued, "I feel like checking the surveillance footage. Since Hayden didn't go out at all, I believe somebody broke in. And if the servants hadn't noticed anything unusual, the person might have broken in at midnight."

"Okay. I'll ask Beryl to come over and run an investigation." Colton nodded. There are too many surveillance cameras around. Even if we're only looking for clues in the last twenty-four hours, it isn't an easy job.

Nicole kept staring at the ground. When she suddenly recalled something, she raised her head. "By the way, there's one more thing. You should ask them to pay extra attention to the time. I suspect there's a hacker involved in this matter, and he might have made it a freeze frame. After all, it's nighttime. It's understandable if nobody enters or leaves the place, and we won't even suspect it."

Colton's eyes shone at her reminder. Squeezing her shoulder, he replied in a tone laced with excitement, "I almost forget how clever you are, Nicky. I'll let Beryl know your theory and have them reinvestigate things right away."

Nicole had nothing to add to that. The idea only came to mind in the first place because her son was also a hacker. Back when he was hacking other people's surveillance cameras, he always froze the frame. Therefore, even if someone was passing through the range of the surveillance cameras, the camera wouldn't capture anything.

According to Colton, Beryl was an expert in this field. If even an expert like him suspects nothing about the footage, the hacker we're facing this time might be a tougher opponent than I imagine.

Nicole knew a thing or two about computer science but was nowhere near Hayden's level. At first, Whitney was responsible for teaching him. As time passed, Hayden started to teach himself due to the fact that he was a fast learner.

"If someone has messed with the footage, it's probably a hacker. Ask Beryl and his men to look for a capable hacker who can retrieve the footage," Nicole eventually added after another pause.

Truth be told, she was well aware that it was impossible to retrieve the lost footage. After all, they have to be well-prepared before initiating an attack.

Colton hummed a response and called Beryl.

Half an hour later, a group of men in suits showed up. Fortunately, they aren't wearing any fedoras, or else they can give people the impression of mafias, Nicole mused.
