Chapter 954 Hayden Being Thoughtful

Nicole came to a halt at this point. She, too, wanted to get closer, but Colton stopped her.

"I know you're worried about Hayden, but given your current physical condition, you should probably stay still," he stated.

Her hand froze in mid-air when she heard that.

Hayden stared at her with wide eyes and said smilingly, "Mom, listen to Dad. Since I'm now contagious, you should stay away from me until I get better."

Nicole lowered her hand, but a sad expression crossed her face. Though she didn't insist on getting closer, Hayden's thoughtfulness for her truly made her heart ache.

Nicole pursed her lips and looked at her son for a moment before saying, "Hayden, take care of yourself in the hospital. I will definitely find out who is responsible for this."

Hayden nodded in response. His gaze remained fixed on her as he said, "Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine being alone here. Dad and you should go out now."

Colton wrapped his hand around Nicole's waist and remained silent for a while. Then, he asked, "Hayden, did you notice anything unusual on the night before you were poisoned?"

Hayden lowered his head and began to think about what had happened that night.

After a long period of thought, he raised his head and answered, "I had a deep sleep that night and I don't remember anything."

Nicole knew her son's habits well. Hayden, like Colton, slept lightly and awoke easily at the slightest movement.

"Were you fed sleeping pills?" she asked with a frown.

"Hayden was asleep. This means that the drug, if there was any, was inhaled. In that case, there would be residuals left in the room," Colton added as he stood off to one side.

"You're right." Nicole nodded in agreement. "We'll find out after we take the items into the room for further examination."

Hayden was happy to see that they were getting along well and had even reached a tacit understanding between themselves. After a light cough, he said, "Oh, Mom, please have someone bring me my laptop when you get back. I'd like to look for some information."

Looking at his pale face, Nicole wanted to turn him down. However, Hayden immediately sensed it and added, "I'm fine, Mom. I only have a few minor rashes and I don't feel sick either. The laptop is for me to kill time."

His pitiful expression immediately made Nicole's heart soften. "Okay. I'll bring it to you, but you must promise to use it only when your body is in good condition."

Hayden's face lit up with a bright smile as he quickly nodded. "Of course. I'll do whatever you say."

After they left the ward, Nicole couldn't hide the concern on her face any longer. Although Hayden was fine now, she couldn't help but wonder how he would have fared if the poison had been more potent. If something happened to Hayden, she wouldn't be able to live as well.
