Chapter 10 What The Hell’s Wrong With You

“What the hell’s wrong with you, Elliot?” Corynn shoved Elliot away and rushed to Jason without thinking. All the while, she eyed Elliot warily, afraid he might strike.

Jason pulled her behind him protectively.

Seeing this, Elliot’s expression darkened. Corynn had never looked at him like that before, which was painful enough in itself, but her instinct to protect Jason felt like a stab to his heart.

“Are you worried I’ll hurt him?” he sneered.

“You’d better not lay a finger on him,” Corynn growled back.

Elliot wanted to point out that Jason had hit him first, but he swallowed his words. Instead, he allowed a mocking smile to tug at his lips as he asked smugly, “Corynn, haven’t you ever told him you were once mine?”

“The key word is ‘once‘,” Jason butted in, putting his arm out in front of Corynn, shielding her from Elliot. He eyed the latter coldly and continued, “Corynn moved on a long time ago. So, I hope you’ll stop pestering my fiancee.”

Elliot’s fleeting satisfaction vanished, replaced by a cold, hostile glare.

Tension crackled in the air as Corynn stood next to Jason, glaring up at Elliot.

“You have a fiancee, so why can’t I? Elliot, you and I ended years ago. Now, you’re not only causing us trouble, but you’re also making a fool out of yourself. It’s pathetic, really.”
