Cayden fell silent at that question.

When did I have lace panties in my car?

Cayden racked his brain but still could not think of anything.

He was germaphobic and would never have any woman's underwear in his car. Whoever did that must be courting death. Moreover, he rarely had women sitting in his car. Aside from his mother, Avery and Rory were the only females that could get inside his car, but Rory was still a kid and not a woman.

Seeing that Cayden looked puzzled despite pondering on this for a long while, Avery gave him a hint. “I'm talking about the black Bentley. I searched inside for Rory's Ustranasion textbook and found black lace panties under the car seat.”

After saying that, Avery went inside the room to show him the evidence.

The lace panties had been jabbing Avery's heart ever since she found them.

She knew she would always be suspicious of him if she did not ask him about this.

Cayden was still puzzled. He could not recall a thing. “Could it be that you bought the underwear and accidentally left it inside?”

Avery looked at him. “Would I still ask you about it if it belonged to me?”

He fell into a deep thought.

She continued, “Also, back when you were in Western Epea handling matters about Regal Garden, I called you one night, but a woman answered. She told me you're in the shower and asked me who I am.”

Cayden's sharp brows furrowed a little after he heard her words.

Suddenly, he remembered that Wisteria headed to the convenience store to get some daily necessities one night after they returned from dinner. He wondered if she had stuffed the panties under the car seat on that same night.

Thinking of that possibility, Cayden's dark eyes shone with an intense cold glint.

If his speculation were true, Wisteria would be a huge disappointment.

Moreover, no one could or would have the guts to answer his call without his permission.

Back when he was in Western Epea, Wisteria was the only person who had been in his suite. However, how the phone was placed and the call history at that time clearly indicated that no one had answered his call, unlike what Avery told him.

But then, as he met Avery's gaze, he knew she was not lying to him. Cayden also believed she would never mess with him over matters like that, which meant someone else must have done something to deceive him. It would not be that suspicious if only one incident occurred, but both incidents occurred almost around the same period. thus, it was inevitable for him to grow suspicious that someone else was behind those two incidents.

In Cayden's eyes, Wisteria was a workaholic. She was always focused at work and led a clean private life. Despite having many outstanding men pursuing her, she coldly rejected all of them.

Cayden refused to think that Wisteria would fall for him, especially when he never showed any interest in her.

After all, Cayden only focused on work or showed interest in anything related to Avery.

Wisteria, if you're behind that, what are your true intentions?

Of course, if Cayden found out Wisteria was behind that, he believed he could permanently place Wisteria abroad for the things she did.

Seeing that Avery had lowered her guard, Cayden put his arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.

Before getting to the bottom of everything, Avery felt uneasy. She was about to protest, but she looked up and sank into Cayden's deep gaze instead.

“W-What are you trying to do? The kids are still here.” Cayden pressed his lips on Avery's earlobe, her sensitive spot, so she could not help shuddering at that.

She secretly glanced in Zachary and Rory's direction. They were busy playing with their toy castle that they did not pay attention to the adults. However, Avery still felt bashful and embarrassed.

“Cayden, don't...” Avery protested, but she noticed her voice had turned hoarse.

Cayden grabbed her jaw and strengthened his grip a little. The deep look in his eyes was as if he wanted to suck her inside his gaze. “Ary, do you trust me? I am clueless about the things you asked me, but I will investigate them and give you an explanation. You know I won't ask for anything more than your trust, right?”

Avery stared into Cayden's bright eyes.

The look in his eyes grew more and more affectionate, and her heart softened a little.

Perhaps that was love.

She fell for Cayden so deeply that she wished she could become a sloth to hang onto him and spend every minute together. However, she was also aware that she would soon lose herself if she loved him too selflessly. She would eventually get anxious and cling on to him all the time. When that happened, their relationship would soon become dull and full of doubts.
