Chapter 0246

Liam POV

I stood in the dimly lit surveillance room, watching my siblings through the camera feeds Adam had set up throughout the house. A pang of jealousy twinged in my chest as I observed their relaxed friendship. "Bastard, make's it look so easy." I shared my uneasy thoughts with V.

"Our role is different we cannot forge close bonds but have to stand as the vigilant protector of the pack. Someone needs to ensure leadership over personal connections," he briskly reminded me. Still, the duality in our existence troubled me. I swallowed the bitterness, masking my envy of Chase's dual ability to connect while leading.

"Suck it up, buttercup." V's voice echoed in my mind, a constant presence that guided and yet challenged me. "Adam's paranoia has been getting worse since Lottie arrived." V observed, his tone laced with a mix of concern and disapproval. I nodded slightly, my gaze fixed on the screen, noting how Adam's eyes tracked Lottie-cold and guarded as if fearing she might crumble under the weight of his gaze. In these moments, I found solace, knowing my relationship with her held more warmth than Adam could muster. "For now, we need to let him. He's lost enough, and if this makes him feel safe..." I sighed softly, the screens reflecting in my eyes.

"But recording someone in private is not healthy, Liam. We should tell Lottie," V insisted, pushing back against the boundaries Adam had set. I sighed, a part of me agreeing with V.

"We will, in time. But right now, let's focus on what's unfolding." I muttered, knowing that now was not the time.

As the situation escalated and Adam left the house to get Lottie out of the car, a sense of urgency washed over me.

"Are they taking her?" I growled, deciding to join them and find out what was happening for myself. I rushed out of the surveillance room, taking the stairs three at a time, my hand gripping the bannister tightly to keep me upright. Pushing the door open, I sighed, seeing I had arrived just in time to see Lottie agreeing to get out of the car. I was thankful to be avoiding the clash I feared but was fully prepared to engage in to protect her from their reckless plans.

"I knew she wasn't going because there was no way Lottie was fitting in the back of Chase's dumb car. The fucker had truly thought that if he got a 1967 Chevy Impala like Dean Winchester from that show he was addicted to, he would attract the ladies like that fictional character did. But honestly, given his size and fat head, he just looked like a pimp on the prowl.

"Dick." I scoffed internally, amused at Chase's attempts to emulate his television idol, which only made him appear more ridiculous.
